Traditional musical comedy with a new and skewed interpretation of ancient Egyptian history.

Seeking an ensemble cast of six actors to play multiple roles:

Cleopatra:

40s. Queen of de-Nile. Regal and sophisticated, intelligent and sensuous. Vain and tempestuous; seeks to controls those around her. Seeking strong comedic actress who moves well, with excellent musical theatre medium-high belt.

Soothsayer / Others:

Male, 35-50. Soothsayer: Ageless “wise” prophet. Whimsical, likable. Pulled in two directions, between Cleopatra and Caesar. Confident air, but slightly wacky. Unknowingly heading for downfall. Actor also plays the following: Marius: Lieutenant and best friend to Marc Antony. Sympathetic and kind, easy-going. Warrior. Emptius: Sphinx salesman (“used car salesman type”). Also plays Courier and Guard, etc. Seeking highly skilled comedic character actor who moves well. Martin Short sensibility. Comic baritone.

Julius Caesar / Others:

Male, 40s-60s. Caesar: Fading warrior and statesman. Genuinely in love with Cleopatra, and will do anything to please her. Enabling father to Lunia. Wry sense of humor. Was a ladies’ man in his early years. Actor also plays. Guard and Doctor. Seeking Vaudeville-style comedic actor who moves well. Character baritone.

Marc Antony / Others:

Male, 25-35. Antony: Handsome, hunky, intelligent and totally self-assured. Determined. Light side to his personality when off-duty. Falls in love with Crecia. Actor also plays Courier and Doctor. Lyric baritone to A-flat. Must dance well.

Crecia / Others:

Crecia: Woman, 20s. Beautiful slave. Strong. Loyal to Cleo, but wants more. Willing to take risks, but is a pragmatist. Falls in love with Marc Antony. Actress also plays Enobarbus: Lawyer to Julius Caesar. Lovely mezzo or soprano to G. Must dance well.

Lunia / Others:

Seeking actress 18+ to play late teens-20s. Lunia: Spoiled; ditzy; self-involved; delusions of grandeur. Actress also plays Blunderus: Goofy judge. Track for a hysterical character actress. Soprano who dances well.
