PREPARATION
Please prepare a brief traditional musical theatre song in the style of Rodgers & Hammerstein. Bring sheet music and your headshot and resume stapled together. A piano accompanist will be provided.

[MOTHER ABBESS] – Female (cis, transgender, or non-binary), 40s – 50s. Wise, kind and strong. Powerful chest and head voice – Mezzo or Soprano (B-A-flat).
[CAPTAIN VON TRAPP] – Male (cis, transgender, or non-binary), late 30s to 50. Strong actor, commanding presence – retired naval officer and proud Austrian. Highly organized and regimented, efficient and smart. Baritone.
[MARIA RAINER] – Female (cis, transgender, or non-binary), early 20s. Spirited, passionate and charming, though occasionally filled with self-doubt. Caring and committed. Chest mix with strong head voice.
[ELSA SCHRAEDER] – Female (cis, transgender, or non-binary), mid 30s – early 40s. A wealthy widow, she is sophisticated, charming and clever. Legit-Mezzo range (A to E below high C).
[MAX DETWEILLER] – Male (cis, transgender, or non-binary), 40s – 50s. Witty and clever impresario who can be charmingly pushy when pursuing what he wants. Strong character, with good sense of comedy. Baritone.
[ROLF GRUBER] – Male (cis, transgender, or non-binary), plays 17. Epitome of clean cut, athletic German youth; self-important but pleasant, he can be somewhat aggressive. Lyric Baritone; comfortable with dance.
[HERR ZELLER] – Male (cis, transgender, or non-binary), late 20s – 40s. A staunch Nazi sympathizer and eventually a leader in the Nazi regime.
[FRANZ] – Male (cis, transgender, or non-binary), mid 30s - 50s. Distant and efficient butler.
[ADMIRAL VON SCHREIBER] – Male, 40s – 50s. A retired Admiral in the Austrian Navy and neighbor of Captain Von Trapp.
[FRAU SCHMIDT] – Female, 40s-50s. Efficient and steady house keeper of Captain Von Trapp. Soprano.
[LIESL VON TRAPP] – Female (cis, transgender, or non-binary), 18+ to play 16. A teen on the verge of womanhood. Innocent, naïve, and initially infatuated with Rolf. Chest mix with a head voice (low G to F#) and comfortable with dance.
[FRIEDRICH VON TRAPP] – Male, age 14. Unchanged voice. Trying to be the 'man' of the family. Quiet and gentlemanly. Excellent singer.
[LOUISA VON TRAPP] – Female, age 13. Initially mischievous, she eventually softens to Maria. Excellent singer.
[KURT VON TRAPP] – Male, age 11. Unchanged voice. Inquisitive and adorable. He longs for love and attention from his father. Boy Soprano with a high G.
[BRIGITTA VON TRAPP] – Female, age 10. Intelligent, independent, bookish, and thoughtful. She is always honest and is not afraid to speak her mind. Excellent singer.
[MARTA VON TRAPP] – Female, age 7. Sweet and gentle.
[GRETL VON TRAPP] – Female, the youngest Von Trapp (actors must turn 7 by rehearsal start date). Adorable and at first somewhat shy, but warms to Maria immediately.
