FRAU SCHMIDT / ENSEMBLE - Female (cis, trans, or non-binary). 40s-50s. Efficient yet caring housekeeper. Legit voice. NOTE: May u/s the role of MOTHER ABBESS.

UNDERSTUDY MOTHER ABBESS - Female (cis, transgender, or non-binary), 40s – 50s, wise, kind and strong. Powerful chest and head voice – Mezzo or Soprano (B-A-flat). We are actively seeking the ensemble tracks of Schmidt & an off-stage Swing. NOTE: This principal role will be covered either by the actor who plays the featured ensemble role of FRAU SCHMIDT (40s-50s, efficient yet caring housekeeper), or by the off-stage female SWING.

ENSEMBLE u/s LIESL, u/s LOUISA - Female (cis, trans, or non-binary). 5’0” - 5’3”, 18+, excellent legit singer to play various adult tracks in the ensemble and cover the roles of LIESL (16) and LOUISA (13). LIESL - a teen on the verge of womanhood. Innocent and naive, but smarter than anyone thinks. She’s “playing with fire” when it comes to Rolf, and enjoys that feeling. Chest mix with a head voice (low G to F#) and must be an excellent dancer. LOUISA - initially mischievous, she eventually softens to Maria.

OFFSTAGE SWING - Female (cis, trans, or non-binary). 30s-40s. Will cover all ensemble tracks including FRAU SCHMIDT, SISTER SOPHIA, SISTER BERTHE, and SISTER MARGARETTA. Versatile legit soprano voice.

• MOTHER ABBESS (OFFERED & ACCEPTED) – Female (cis, transgender, or non-binary), 40s – 50s, wise, kind and strong. Powerful chest and head voice – Mezzo or Soprano (B-A-flat)
• CAPTAIN VON TRAPP ROLE IS CAST (OFFERED & ACCEPTED) – Male (cis, transgender, or non-binary), late 30s to 50; commanding presence – retired naval officer and proud Austrian. Highly organized and regimented, efficient and smart. Baritone.
• MARIA RAINER ROLE IS CAST (OFFERED & ACCEPTED) – Female (cis, transgender, or non-binary), early 20s; spirited, passionate and charming, though occasionally filled with self-doubt. Caring and committed. Chest mix with strong head voice.
• ELSA SCHRAEDER ROLE IS CAST (OFFERED & ACCEPTED) – Female (cis, transgender, or non-binary), mid 30s – early 40s; a wealthy widow, she is sophisticated, charming and clever. Legit-Mezzo range (A to E below high C).
• MAX DETWEILLER ROLE IS CAST (OFFERED & ACCEPTED) – Male (cis, transgender, or non-binary), 40s – 50s; witty and clever impresario who can be charmingly pushy when pursuing what he wants. Good sense of comedy, Baritone.
• ROLF GRUBER ROLE IS CAST (OFFERED & ACCEPTED) – Male (cis, transgender, or non-binary), 18+ to play 17, epitome of clean cut, athletic German youth; self-important but pleasant, he can be somewhat aggressive. Lyric Baritone; comfortable with dance.
• HERR ZELLER ROLE IS CAST (OFFERED & ACCEPTED) – Male (cis, transgender, or non-binary), late 20s – 40s. A staunch Nazi sympathizer and eventually a leader in the Nazi regime.
• FRANZ ROLE IS CAST (OFFERED & ACCEPTED) – Male (cis, transgender, or non-binary), mid 30s - 50s. Distant and efficient butler.
• ADMIRAL VON SCHREIBER ROLE IS CAST (OFFERED & ACCEPTED) – Male, Caucasian, 40s – 50s. A retired Admiral in the Austrian Navy and neighbor of Captain Von Trapp.
• LIESL VON TRAPP ROLE IS CAST (OFFERED & ACCEPTED) – Female (cis, transgender, or non-binary), 18+ to play 16; a teen on the verge of womanhood. Innocent, naïve, and initially infatuated with Rolf. Chest mix with a head voice (low G to F#) and comfortable with dance.
• FRIEDRICH VON TRAPP ROLE IS CAST (OFFERED & ACCEPTED) – Male, age 14. Unchanged voice. Trying to be the ‘man’ of the family. Quiet and gentlemanly. Excellent singer.
• LOUISA VON TRAPP ROLE IS CAST (OFFERED & ACCEPTED) – Female, age 13. Initially mischievous, she eventually softens to Maria. Excellent singer.
• KURT VON TRAPP ROLE IS CAST (OFFERED & ACCEPTED) – Male, age 11. Unchanged voice. Inquisitive and adorable. He longs for love and attention from his father. Boy Soprano with a high G.
• BRIGITTA VON TRAPP ROLE IS CAST (OFFERED & ACCEPTED) – Female, age 10. Intelligent, independent, bookish, and thoughtful. She is always honest and is not afraid to speak her mind. Excellent singer.
• MARTA VON TRAPP ROLE IS CAST (OFFERED & ACCEPTED) – Female, age 7. Sweet and gentle.
• GRETL VON TRAPP (OFFERED & ACCEPTED) – Female, the youngest Von Trapp (actors must turn 7 by rehearsal start date). Adorable and at first somewhat shy, but warms to Maria immediately.
