All dancers, please be dressed, warmed up and ready to dance at the hour the audition begins.
Women, please have pointe shoes and flat ballet shoes with you. Men wear ballet shoes.
If asked to stay and sing, prepare a song from the musical theatre repertoire that best shows off your voice and range. Bring sheet music in your key. An accompanist will be provided. There is no solo singing for the dancers (except ‘Meg’), but they will have to carry some vocal responsibility in the ensemble numbers.
Bring picture and resume, stapled together.
Seeking future replacements for the Broadway Company of THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA.
Ensemble Female Dancers:
All female dancers must be 5’4” or under, have a degree of innocence about them and look very young (18-25). Need experienced, classically trained dancers. Most of the audition will be on POINTE.
Ensemble Male Dancers:
All male dancers must be 6’0” or taller and must be classical/ballet dancers. They should have solid classical technique with a musical theatre flair. They must be well built and muscular. Need strong classical dancers. We are not looking for tap dancers, jazz dancers, or “hoofers.”
In addition, there is the principal role of Meg who is a member of the Corps de Ballet. She should appear to be between 16 and 18 years old. The range is mezzo-soprano to G. We will also be looking for girls for future replacements for this role at this dance call.
Casting for The Phantom of the Opera is interracial. Dancers of all ethnic backgrounds and races are encouraged to attend.
