Equity Chorus Call / DANCERS:

Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at Pearl Studios “500”

11 AM – Equity female dancers 500 8th Avenue, 4th Floor

2 PM – Equity male dancers New York, NY.

All dancers, please be dressed, warmed up and ready to dance at the hour the audition begins. Prepare a brief musical theatre song that best shows off voice and range in case asked to stay and sing. Bring sheet music in correct key; accompanist provided but may not transpose.

Women, most of the audition will be on POINTE. Please have pointe shoes and flat ballet shoes with you. Men should wear ballet shoes. All bring picture and resume, stapled together.

There is no solo singing for the dancers (except ‘Meg’), but they will have to carry some vocal responsibility in the ensemble numbers.

Seeking:

Ensemble Dancers:

All female dancers must be 5’4” or under, have a degree of innocence about them and look very young (18-25). Need experienced, classically trained dancers.

All male dancers must be 6’0” or taller and must be classical/ballet dancers. They should have solid classical technique with a musical theatre flair. They must be well built and muscular. Need strong classical dancers. Not looking for tap dancers, jazz dancers, or “hoofers.”

In addition, there is the principal role of ‘Meg’ who is a member of the Corps de Ballet. She should appear to be between 16 and 18 years old. The range is mezzo-soprano to G. We will also be looking for girls for future replacements for this role at this dance call.
