Male, any ethnicity, 40s-50s. A traveling salesman with beguiling charm who persuades a whole town to fund a youth band.
Marcellus Washburn:
Male, any ethnicity, 30s-40s. Former conman, who is an old friend of Harold Hill’s, focused on living the straight and narrow life in River City.
Zaneeta Shinn:
Female, any ethnicity, a teenager. Daughter from the most prominent family in the town, a trendsetter and secretly dating Tommy. (note: This role may be cast Non Union)
Tommy Djilas:
Male, any ethnicity, a teenager. From the “wrong side of the tracks”, mischievous, in love with Zaneeta Shinn. (note: This role may be cast Non Union)
Pickalittle Ladies (Alma Hix, Mrs. Squires, Ethel Toffelmeir):
Female, any ethnicity, 30s-40s. Gossipy, busybody ladies of River City. Character types
Eulalie Mackecknie Shinn:
Female, any ethnicity, Early 40s-50s. Pretentious and sociable wife of the mayor who leads the Pickalittle Ladies.
Barbershop Quartet (Jacey Squires, Olin Britt):
Male, any ethnicity, Late 40s-60s. Bickering, competitive members of the school board forced to become friends through Harold’s wily persuasion. Jacey Squires needs a vocal range from A2-B4. Olin Britt needs a vocal range F#2 - F4. (Bass and Tenor)
