BREAKDOWN

A toy factory on the industrial edge of the Boyle Heights neighborhood of Los Angeles. Two survivors meet in a world filled with fears of deportation, low wages, poor working conditions, and a struggle for the vanishing American dream.

Jessinia:
( 20's) A young Mexican woman from rural Mexico. Sweet, honest and endearing. Deeply spiritual.

Horowitz:
(early 30's)) The kind hearted, hard working son of the factory owner. Sympathetic, kind and thoughtful.

Hirsh:
(late 70's)) Owner of the factory. A Polish Holocaust survivor. Tough, hardened and determined, with a very good sense of humor.

Ortiz:
(mid 40s to fifties) Worldly well spoken Chicano from Boyle Heights. A Vietnam Veteran who has survived the jungles Vietnam and the tough neighborhoods of East Los Angeles -spiritual-religious- a fighter who can tell a joke

McClean:
(40's to late 50's) A no nonsense Irish American Fire Inspector with the LAFD. Straight forward with a lot of working man's pride.

Maria:
(30's to 50's) Chicana from the tough streets of East Los Angeles. Speaks a good Spanglish, loves to laugh, sing, and make good Tamales for the work crew.

Man, Immigration officer
(20's 30's) a tough Latino Immigration officer. And a sleazy patron at a down town dance club

Immigration Officer:
(20's) A Caucasian tough no nonsense robotic Immigration officer.

Bornstein:
(40s, 50s) A social worker type labor activist. Loves justice, Caesar Chavez, and workers rights. A roll up the sleeve kind of guy who gets things done.
