BREAKDOWN

THE FARNDALE AVENUE HOUSING ESTATE TOWNSWOMEN'S GUILD DRAMATIC SOCIETY'S PRODUCTION OF 'A CHRISTMAS CAROL'

SYNOPSIS:

In a festive mood, the ladies of the Farndale Avenue Housing Estate Townswomen’s Guild Dramatic Society mount another assault on the classics with their stage version of “A Christmas Carol.” They enthusiastically portray a dizzy array of characters from the Dickensian favorite (and a few which aren’t), engineer some novel audience participation while bravely contending with an intrusive PA system, and — a real Farndale first — wrap their vocal cords and feet around two original, show-stopping songs.

SEEKING:

  • Mrs. Reece: the elegant, middle-aged chair of the Dramatic Society (also plays Tiny Tim, Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come, and others); age range 40-70
  • Thelma: a middle-aged, bad-tempered prima donna (also plays Ebenezer Scrooge); age range 40-70
  • Felicity: a nervous young housewife (also plays Half of the Ghost of Christmas Present, Fred, and others); age range 25-40
  • Mercedes: a phlegmatic woman rendered almost inert by her neck brace (also plays Bob Cratchit, Belle, and others); age range 35-50
  • Gordon: the long-suffering stage manager (also plays Mrs. Cratchit, Fezziwig, and others); age range immaterial
