Seeking
Equity actors, men and women, for the 2013-14 Touring Season.

Preparation
Sides will be provided. Actors auditioning for Los Valientes or Tres Vidas should also be prepared to sing a Spanish folk song of their choice a cappella.

Bring picture/resume stapled together.

Other Dates
Weekly perf. salary of $423 min. (3 perfs. @ $121 per perf.) PLUS $50/day perdiem whilst on tour. Rehearsal salary is $15/hr.

The Core Ensemble is a touring company that presents ethnic-centered educational plays performed by a solo actor with a chamber trio of percussion, cello & piano.

Breakdown

The Core Ensemble is a touring company that presents ethnic-centered educational plays performed by a solo actor with a chamber trio of percussion, cello & piano. We are seeking the following for our 2013/2014 Season:

LOS VALIENTES by Jose Cruz Gonzalez.
Rehearses 4 weeks from August 26, 2013
Tours 5 weeks from September 23, 2013 with possible extension

Seeking:

One male singing actor:
To play 3 renowned Latin American figures: muralist Diego Rivera, slain human rights activist Archbishop Oscar Romero of San Salvador, and Mexican-American outlaw Joaquin Murieta (the basis for the Zorro legend). Extremely versatile actor needed, with tremendous charisma and strong, agile command of language and physicality. Characters range in age from 20's-50's. Text is in English, but songs are in Spanish.

HARVEST OF VOICES: The Farmworkers of Palm Beach County
Rehearses 3 weeks in Lake Worth, FL from December 16, 2013
Performs 1 week in FL, January 5 to January 12, 2014

Seeking:

One male actor:
To portray various migrant farmworkers hailing from Latin America: Extremely versatile actor needed to play characters ranging in age from 20's to 50's. Strong, agile command of language and physicality required. Text will be in English and Spanish..

TRES VIDAS by Marjorie Agosin

The following role has been CAST. Actors will be considered for possible replacements/understudies:

One Female Singing Actor (CAST):
To play three Latina women: Mexican painter Frida Kahlo, revered Argentinean poet Alfonsina Storni, and the sole survivor of the 1981 massacre of El Mazote during the El Salvadoran civil war, Rufina Amaya. Extremely versatile actress needed. Must have strong command of language and physicality to embody these three distinct and passionate characters at various life stages, from age 17 - 40's. Latina dialects and strong mezzo soprano voice required. Text is in English, but songs are in Spanish.

Rehearses/tours from Dec 30, 2013 through March 2, 1014

The following role has been CAST. Actors will be considered for possible replacements/understudies:

One Female Singing Actor (CAST):
To play four African American women of substance: ex-slave and fiery abolitionist Sojourner Truth, renowned novelist and anthropologist Zora Neale Hurston, exuberant folk artist Clementine Hunter and fervent civil rights worker Fannie Lou Hamer. Extremely versatile actress needed. Strong command of language and physicality needed to embody these four characters at various life stages, from ages 30 - 80, with dignity and gentle humor. Strong mezzo/alto jazzy singing voice required

The following role has been CAST. Actors will be considered for possible replacements/understudies:

One Male Actor (CAST):
To play 3 renowned African-American poets/artists of the Harlem Renaissance: Langston Hughes, Countee Cullen and Claude McKay, as well as the great muralist & painter Aaron Douglas. Extremely versatile actor needed. Must have strong command of language and an agile grace to embody these four larger than life characters with dignity and gentle humour.
