You will receive an e-mail that confirms your audition time. Performers without e-mail access may call (781) 279-7885 x104 for an appointment. Equity Members without appointments will be seen throughout the audition day, as time permits. Stoneham Theatre will see Equity Members only at these auditions.

Non-musical auditions: Please prepare a contemporary monologue no more than three minutes in length, or material from one of the season's shows.

Musical auditions: Please prepare a brief song or material from one of the season’s shows. Bring sheet music; an accompanist will be provided on Friday, April 20 ONLY.

A reader will be provided for those who wish to read from scripts. Copies of the scripts are available at StageSource (88 Tremont St., Boston) for review prior to the audition, and will be available at the audition.

Please bring a picture and resume, stapled together.

LUMBERJACKS IN LOVE

Book and Lyrics: Fred Alley. Music: James Kaplan. Story: Fred Alley and James Kaplan.

Director: Caitlin Lowans. Music Director: TBA

1st rehearsal: August 28, 2012. Runs September 13–30, 2012

Musical comedy about, well, lumberjacks in love.

MINNESOTA SLIM - The boss of the shanty. Strong, physical, terrified of women. Lyric Baritione.

DIRTY BOB - Hasn’t bathed in twenty two years. Not quite right in the head. Natural clown. Baritone.

MUSKRAT - Philosophical, angst ridden, celebrating his fortieth birthday. Baritone.

MOONLIGHT - Strong of back, soft of heart. Chops down trees and reads romance novels. Lyric Baritone.

THE KID - Beautiful and earnest girl who masquerades as a boy. Naive and romantical. Mezzo.

ROSE, The Mail Order Bride - A romance novelist from back east. Strong willed and ironical with a cynical outer shell. Soprano with strong belt.

DOUBLE INDEMNITY

New adaptation of the classic novel.

WALTER HUFF Insurance salesman who falls –hard - for a femme fatale and gets drawn into murder.

PHYLLIS NIRLINGER A beautiful and razor sharp woman who knows how to get her way.

A traditional adaptation of the beloved movie. Some roles will be doubled.

A professor, a bartender and a nun spend a snowy evening in a hometown bar.

CONNOR CURTIN An Irish-American law professor in his early forties.

MAEVE MOORE Connor’s long-time friend, also Irish-American, around his age.

DEV HART An Irish bartender in his late twenties.

THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE

A small-town girl arrives in the big city. Some roles will double.

Millie Dillmount (Soprano, 20s) Spunky female. Excellent tap dancer, strong physical comedy. Appealing, determined, smart and headstrong despite her naiveté.

Jimmy Smith (Tenor/high baritone, 20s) Moves very well, some physical comedy. Charming, handsome, self-assured and savvy.

Mrs Meers (Belt, 30s – 50s) Strong actor, sinister villain, comedic skills.

Miss Dorothy Brown (Soprano, 20s) Female. Classic beauty, comedic skills. Millie’s best friend.

Ching Ho (Tenor/high baritone, 20s) Asian male. Moves well, comedic timing but deep love for Miss Dorothy.

Bun Foo (Tenor/high baritone, 20s -30s) Asian male. Moves well, comedic timing.

Miss Flannery (Belt, 20’s-40’s) Character actress. Strong physical comedy, some tap required.

Muzzy von Hossmere: Fancy-shmancy moral voice of reason and true love.

Trevor Graydon III (Baritone, 30’s) Cliched “boss” character. Very handsome, businesslike. Must move very well.

The Hotel Priscilla Girls: small speaking parts, lots of singing/dancing: Ruth, Gloria, Rita, Alice, Ethel, Peas, Cora, Lucille

A true-life drama about female radium factory workers in the 1920s. Some roles double as listed

CATHARINE DONOHUE (20s) Tom’s wife. Loves earning her own money and being her own person.

FRANCES (20s) (also plays Reporter 2, an Official) A little uptight and serious. Tries keep everyone on the straight and narrow.

CHARLOTTE (20s) (also plays Reporter 1) Brash. Loves to say things that others won’t. Good hearted.

PEARL (20s) (also plays Daughter, Judge 2) A bit ditzy and maybe not the brightest of the bunch. Loves to tell jokes.

TOM DONOHUE (20s) Catharine’s husband (also plays Dr. Rowntree, Dr. Dalitsch)

MR. REED Supervisor of the radium factory (also plays Radio Announcer, Company Doctor, Son, Judge, Leonard Grossman)

THE MARVELOUS WONDERETTES

A 1950s and 1960s musical revue.

CINDY LOU (plays 18 & 28) she knows she is the prettiest girl at Springfield High and will be named Prom Queen. MEZZO SOPRANO BELT– sings lead line on most songs.

MISSY (plays 18 & 28) She is the over-achiever of the group. Very controlled, very concerned that everything turns out wonderful and perfect. SOPRANO – WIDE RANGE, VERY HIGH VOCALS AND BELTS THROUGHOUT THE SHOW.

BETTY JEAN (plays 18 & 28) the class clown, tomboy. ALTO WITH A STRONG LOW RANGE.

SUZY (plays 18 & 28) The happy-go-lucky one of the group – sometimes stereotyped as the ditzy blonde. MEZZO ALTO, BOTH SWEET AND SOUL VOICE.
