¡SÍ SE PUEDE! follows trailblazing activist Dolores Huerta on her journey to improve conditions for farm workers against all the odds. From launching worker strikes with César Chávez and Larry Itliong, to boycotts, marches, and high-stakes negotiations — her unwavering commitment to justice changed the course of history. Through a blend of movement, music, and actors inspired by el Teatro Campesino, the play illustrates the powerful social transformation that can be achieved when people come together.
NOTE: Certain roles will require strong instrumental abilities. Those who play classical/Spanish guitar, vihuela, jarana, accordion or melodica, violin, cajon, Latin handheld percussion instruments, or any other instruments used in Mexican folk music are strongly encouraged to audition. In general, we are not looking for conventional “music-theatre style”/vibrato singers. We are looking for voices that feel inspired by mariachi, corrido, or folklorico music. Multiple actors will play different tracks. Please note if you are experienced in Mexican ballet folklorico/zapateado.
All characters must sing and move well. Some roles require being bilingual. Ability to play instruments is a plus.
