Seeking, for possible future replacements in the Broadway company:

Dancers (M/F) Who Sing:

Characters are 18 – early 40s. Seeking unique and fit dancers with strong modern/jazz technique. Play various characters in the ensemble and possibly understudy principal roles.

Ensemble covers the following principal roles:

    Drew Dillenbeck:

20s, any ethnicity. Young, handsome rocker. Desperately wants to be a rocker, but works as a bar-back at the famous “Rock of Ages” club on the Sunset Strip until his dreams, however unrealistic, come true. Great comedic timing needed. Strong rock tenor.

    Sherrie Christian:

Caucasian woman, 20s. Young, pretty girl who has left her Midwestern family to pursue stardom in Los Angeles. Innocent and naïve. Great comedic timing, strong rock vocals and terrific movement needed.

    Lonny Barnett:

Middle-aged man, any ethnicity. Our narrator. Has a slightly unflattering appearance but doesn’t see it. Seeking a guy with very strong comedic timing and commanding but comically strong rock vocals.

    Dennis Dupree:

40s, any ethnicity. Older, possibly heavyset guy who runs the famous “Rock of Ages” club on the Sunset Strip. Caught between a rock and a hard place when German businessmen pressure him to sell his club. Very strong comedic timing.

    Stacee Jaxx / Father:

Middle-aged Caucasian man. Rock Star. Very sexy. At the top of his game; has just left his very successful metal-rock band to venture out on his own. Arrogant and charming; his life is a merry-go-round of good old sex, drugs and rock-n-roll. Very strong comedic timing and strong rock voice needed. Actor also plays Sherrie’s Father.

    Justice Charlier / Mother:

Justice: African American woman, 40–50. Commanding. Runs the strip club where Sherrie ends up when the going gets rough. Sultry, maternal, sexy madam. Strong vocals and belt needed. Actress also plays Sherrie’s Mother.

    Hertz Klinemann:

Caucasian German man, 40–60. Uptight, older businessman who is looking to take over the Sunset Strip. He is our villain, and needs to have a commanding presence. Strong comedic timing and vocals needed. Must have a good German accent.

    Franz Klinemann:

German, 20s–30s. Young, foppish. Pressured by his father to work for his business. Small, shy. Good vocals and strong comedic timing needed.

    Regina:

20–40s, any ethnicity. Granola girl. Hilarious, tree-hugging fighter who will stop at nothing to protect the Sunset Strip. Strong comedic timing.

Casting Directors’ statement: “We are seeking an ethnically diverse ensemble. All are encouraged to attend.”
