Seeking (all positions are available (i.e. not yet offered and accepted) unless otherwise specified):

Lucille:

Caucasian, 30s-40s. In the same neighborhood, Lucille owns a dress store and designs many of the dresses she sells. Her clients include many of the Stardust regulars. Her dresses have a distinctive Bronx look and style. Lucille has a gripe against all men. Must also sing well and dance. Featured ensemble character.

Evelyn:

50s-60s, any ethnicity. The cosmetician in the neighborhood; sells make-up and does the faces of many Stardust regulars. Works for Dolores, who thinks Evelyn knows so much about make-up that she belongs in Hollywood. Evelyn has had a heart attack and recovered. Refuses to stop dancing. Considers it her life’s blood. She and Moe are an item at the Stardust. Must also sing well and dance. Featured ensemble character.

Martha:

African American, late 50s-60s. Angie’s friend, and a regular at the Stardust. The most distinctive dresser at the ballroom. Composes highly original outfits for herself from vintage clothing. Has been married and divorced three or four times and produced four children, all of them professionals. One of them, her youngest and favorite, is gay. Of the four, he’s the only one who interests her. She is in a hot relationship with Petey, her dance partner at the ballroom. When they dance together, they sizzle. Must also dance and sing well. Featured ensemble character.

Johnny:

Italian, 30s-40s. Young, married hot jitterbug. Angie’s partner on and off the dance floor, until he gets his wife pregnant and stops coming to the Stardust. Must sing and dance well. Featured ensemble character.

Petey:

African American, late 50s-60s. Stardust regular. Martha’s partner; very hot for her although he, too, probably has a wife at home. Sells appliances – wholesale – to Stardust regulars. Must sing and dance well. Featured ensemble character.

Lana:

Latina, 50s-70s. Lana is one of the youngest dancers at the Stardust. She and Bob take ballroom dance lessons and so consider themselves expert dancers. They are always dressed to the nines. They never skip a dance. They sail across the dance floor elegantly, and maybe a little arrogantly. They are very much in love. Must dance very well. Latin ballroom experience is a HUGE plus. Singing is a plus. Featured ensemble character.

Bob:

Latino, 50s-70s. See description for Lana, above. Must dance very well. Latin ballroom experience is a HUGE plus. Singing is a plus. Featured ensemble character.

Fernando:

Latino, 30s-40s. The Stardust bartender; when he mixes drinks, it’s like a dance. Young, handsome, hot. Attracted to older women – Angie in particular; admires everything about her, especially her humor. Must also dance and sing well. Featured ensemble character.

Gretchen:

Caucasian teen. Sexy; looks like Marilyn Monroe. Reluctantly looking for her first job, under pressure from her mother. Excels at being seductive. Must dance also, and sing well. Featured ensemble character.

The following four positions are cast (i.e. offer accepted). Auditioning performers will be considered as possible (emergency) replacements, should any become necessary.

Dolores:

CAST. Caucasian, 40s. Owns a beauty salon, in the neighborhood of Bea’s shop. Dolores is the famous hairdresser in the neighborhood. Does the hair of many of the Stardust regulars, and is considered by them to be a genius. Has never been married, and regrets it deeply. Must sing and dance well. Featured ensemble character.

Phil:

CAST. Caucasian, 50s. Once a friend of Maury’s, still an acquaintance of Helen and Jack’s. Phil is all about sex. It’s all he thinks about. It’s the reason he comes to the Stardust. He is known for his dirty jokes and comments. Bea is surprised to find him at the Stardust when she first gets there; even more surprised when he comes on to her. His aggressive sexuality turns Bea off him permanently. Must sing and dance well. Featured ensemble character.

Moe:

CAST. Caucasian, late 50s-60s. Shoe salesman who sells his shoes wholesale to Stardust regulars. His dancing shoes are always popular. Moe is mad about Evelyn. Must sing and dance well. Featured ensemble character.

Harry:

CAST. Caucasian, 50s. Retired dentist. Slightly demented. Loves to dance – alone – and watch himself in the mirror. When he dances, he has the look and grace of a flamingo. Must dance well and sing. Featured ensemble character.

Note from Equity:
