BREAKDOWN
Playhouse at 3 Below Theaters 2026 Season
In 2026, 3 Below will celebrate the power of reinvention - from outrageous parody to razor-sharp satire to Sondheim’s darkest masterpiece. These three productions connect generations, inspire dialogue, and remind us why live theater remains the most thrilling storytelling of all.
THE BARDY BUNCH
Rehearsals are anticipated to start February 16, 2026
Performances: March 20 - April 19, 2026
SYNOPSIS: The Brady Bunch meets The Partridge Family… with Shakespearean vengeance! This cult-hit parody mashes up America’s favorite TV families with the Bard’s most iconic tragedies. Expect sword fights, mistaken identities, passion, and plenty of blood - all set to the sunny pop hits of the ’70s like “I Think I Love You” and “It’s a Sunshine Day.” It’s part musical, part Shakespeare, part TV flashback - and 100% outrageous fun.
SEEKING:
THE BRADY FAMILY:
- Mike Brady - Male, Baritone. The proud, well-intentioned patriarch. Part TV dad, part tragic Shakespearean hero. Loving, slightly clueless, and always trying to keep the peace. Think “Dad Knows Best” with existential undertones.
- Carol Brady - Female, Mezzo-Soprano. The upbeat, optimistic mother. Sweet but strong-willed - a Lady Macbeth who bakes. A blend of maternal warmth and unexpected bite.
- Greg Brady - Male, Tenor/High Baritone. The cool eldest son. Dreamy, confident, guitar in hand. The Romeo of the Bradys - charming but dramatic when love gets complicated.
- Marcia Brady - Female, Soprano/High Mix. Beautiful, self-assured, and knows it. Popular and polished but secretly yearning for deeper meaning. The Juliet energy is strong with this one.
- Peter Brady - Male, Tenor. The middle child trying to find his place. Awkward, endearing, and eager to prove himself. A true “boy next door” with puppy energy.
- Jan Brady - Female, Mezzo-Soprano. Insecure and emotional - “Marcia, Marcia, Marcia!” personified. She’s Ophelia in bell bottoms, earnest and fragile but funny and big-hearted.
- Bobby Brady - Male, Any voice. The mischievous youngest brother. Spirited, loyal, and up for anything. Comic timing essential.
- Cindy Brady - Female, Soprano. The sweet, lisping youngest Brady. Innocent yet surprisingly clever. Small but mighty comic presence.
THE PARTRIDGE FAMILY:
- Shirley Partridge - Female, Alto/Mezzo. The loving single mom and band leader. Earthy, grounded, and musically gifted. Think Gertrude meets Karen Carpenter.
- Keith Partridge - Male, Tenor. Handsome, brooding, and talented. The Hamlet of the Partridges - moody, magnetic, and hopelessly romantic.
- Laurie Partridge - Female, Mezzo-Soprano. Intelligent, independent, and witty - the Beatrice of the Partridge clan. Has great chemistry with Greg Brady.
- Danny Partridge - Male, Baritone/Tenor. Schemer, hustler, always up to something. The Iago of sitcom suburbia. Wry, confident, and funny as hell.
- Chris Partridge - Male, Baritone. The easygoing drummer. Low-key and likable. A comic presence who’s happy in the background until he steals a moment.
- Tracy Partridge - Female, Any voice. The youngest Partridge. Adorable, musical, and always positive. Brings the wholesome innocence of the band.
FEATURED ROLES:
- Reuben Kincaid - Male, Character Baritone. The Partridge Family’s overworked manager. Cynical but lovable. Comic timing and strong character voice essential.
- Alice Nelson - Female, Alto/Mezzo. The Bradys’ wisecracking housekeeper. World-weary, grounded, and hilarious. The show’s moral compass wrapped in sarcasm.
- Sam the Butcher - Male, Baritone. Alice’s well-meaning boyfriend. Sweet, loyal, and occasionally clueless. Strong comic instincts.
CANDIDE IN CONCERT
Rehearsals are anticipated to start June 8, 2026
Performances: July 2 - July 19, 2026
SYNOPSIS: Leonard Bernstein’s dazzling score meets Voltaire’s biting satire in this concert staging of Candide. Filled with wit, beauty, and unforgettable music - including “Glitter and Be Gay” and the soaring finale “Make Our Garden Grow” - this sparkling event shines a spotlight on Bernstein’s genius anew. It’s not just a concert - it’s a celebration of one of America’s greatest composers, performed with passion and power.
SEEKING:
- CANDIDE – Tenor. Naïve, idealistic, and endlessly hopeful. A young man whose belief in “the best of all possible worlds” is constantly challenged. Sings with warmth, purity, and emotional openness.
- CUNEGONDE – Soprano / Coloratura. Beautiful, vain, and resilient. Her show-stopping aria “Glitter and Be Gay” demands both comedic precision and dazzling vocal agility.
- DR. PANGLOSS / NARRATOR – Baritone / Character Tenor. The voice of reason, irony, and folly all at once. A brilliant comic capable of shifting from sincere instruction to absurd philosophical justification.
- THE OLD LADY – Mezzo-Soprano / Alto. Worldly, outrageous, and full of survival instinct. A master of comic timing who can deliver both bawdy humor and genuine heart.
- MAXIMILIAN – Baritone / Tenor. Cunegonde’s pompous, preening brother. Entitled and hilariously self-absorbed, yet still oddly lovable.
- PAQUETTE – Soprano / Mezzo. A servant and romantic counterpart to Maximilian; flirtatious and warm-hearted.
- CACAMBO – Baritone / Tenor. Candide’s loyal companion and worldly guide. Charming, grounded, and pragmatic.
- THE GOVERNOR / VANDERDENDUR / RAGOTSKY / etc. – Baritone. Comic character; multiple roles with flair, wit, and variety.
SWEENEY TODD: THE DEMON BARBER OF FLEET STREET
Rehearsals are anticipated to start August 24
Performances: October 1 - November 1, 2026
SYNOPSIS: Stephen Sondheim’s gothic masterpiece comes to 3 Below in a thrilling new production. Equal parts chilling and darkly funny, Sweeney Todd slices into themes of obsession, justice, and revenge - all underscored by what many call the greatest score in musical theatre history. This is the world’s greatest musical - a dark, delicious masterpiece that must be experienced live.
SEEKING:
- SWEENEY TODD – Baritone (G2 – Gb4). A brooding, tormented barber driven by revenge. Intelligent, intense, and commanding. Conveys both menace and vulnerability.
- MRS. LOVETT – Alto/Mezzo-Soprano (G3 – E5). The enterprising and eccentric pie shop owner. Comic yet deeply human; balances humor, horror, and genuine affection for Sweeney. Excellent comic timing and strong diction essential.
- ANTHONY HOPE – Tenor (Bb2 – F4). A young sailor with idealism and courage. Earnest and romantic, devoted to Johanna.
- JOHANNA – Soprano (C4 – A5). Sweeney’s innocent daughter, raised by Judge Turpin. Beautiful, fragile, yet spirited. Possesses a pure, agile soprano voice.
- JUDGE TURPIN – Bass-Baritone (E2 – Gb4). A corrupt, lustful judge who destroys Sweeney’s family and becomes his ultimate target. Authoritative and sinister.
- THE BEADLE BAMFORD – Tenor (D3 – D5). The judge’s obsequious henchman. Smug, self-righteous, and pompous; a perfect bureaucratic villain.
- TOBIAS RAGG – Tenor (Bb2 – Ab4). An earnest and loyal young man who works for Mrs. Lovett. Innocent yet tragic. Strong emotional range and vulnerability required.
- BEGGAR WOMAN (LUCY) – Mezzo-Soprano (Ab3 – F5). A mysterious, deranged street woman whose madness hides deep pain and truth. Both comic and tragic extremes. Doubles as Alternate Ensemble Role.
- PIRRELLI – Tenor (B2 – C5). A flamboyant, bombastic “Italian” barber with a secret identity. Requires strong comic timing and a solid tenor voice. Doubles as Alternate Ensemble Role.
