Chicago actors encouraged to submit.
All cast must be strong singers and good movers as they will participate in musical numbers.
NOTE FROM CREATIVE: We welcome performers of all gender identities, abilities/exceptionalities, and body types. Please take this into consideration when submitting clients. In addition to genders listed in character breakdowns, we are open to trans and non-binary performers for all roles.

LLOYD PRICE UNDERSTUDY/ENSEMBLE: Male-identifying, Black, 25- 45 years old. TO COVER LLOYD PRICE. Legendary singer and songwriter; the protagonist of the story. This role involves James Brown footwork, tap-dance vocabulary is helpful. Strong singer and dancer/mover.
ART RUPE/ENSEMBLE: Male-identifying, White, 45- 55 years old. Art Rupe, the owner of the record label. A strong Singer and Mover.
LEVY/ENSEMBLE: Male-identifying, White, 45- 55 years old. Charles Levy, Lloyd Price’s lawyer, and other ensemble roles. A strong Singer and Mover.
LITTLE RICHARD/ENSEMBLE: Male-identifying, Black, 25-30 years old. Little Richard, Sam Cooke as well as other characters. A strong Singer & Dancer.
MR PRICE/ENSEMBLE: Male-identifying, Black, 40- 50 years old. Lloyd Price’s hard-working father, and other ensemble characters. A strong Singer and Mover.
DAVE/ENSEMBLE: Male-identifying, Black, 35- 45 years old. A friendly musician in New Orleans that helps Lloyd Price connect with the record label, and other ensemble roles. A strong Dancer.
DON ROBEY/ENSEMBLE: Male-identifying, White, 40-50. Don Robey is Lloyd's first manager. He is a fast talking, aggressive hustler. A strong Singer and Mover.
MALE SWINGS: TO COVER MALE ENSEMBLE AND PRINCIPAL TRACKS. 20-45 years old. Strong Singers and Dancers.

ROSETTA THARPE/ENSEMBLE: Female-identifying, Black, 35- 45 years old. Sister Rosetta Tharpe, a talented Gospel singer and guitarist, as well as other characters. A strong mover and an excellent singer. Guitar skills preferred. Please note anyone who can play electric guitar.
FEMALE ENSEMBLE: Female-identifying, Black, 20-25 years old. Various roles. Strong Singers and Dancers.
