Please prepare two contrasting monologues or one monologue and one song selection. Audition should not exceed three minutes total. Bring sheet music in the proper key, plus headshot and resume. An accompanist will be provided.

SYLVIE and others – Age 30-40, Female - Sylvie is Dr. Thatcher's medical assistant, who herself has undergone the Doctor's stress elimination procedure. Impressively confident, assured, comfortable in her own skin, in command in any situation. She’s youthful and attractive - or at least feels that way, which is possibly the same thing.
KARL and others – Age 40-60, Male - Karl is the superintendent of Gemma's apartment building. A very serious individual. Not a man to be messed with.
COLIN and others: THIS ROLE HAS BEEN CAST. Age 30-40, Male - a good guy - kind, friendly, content with his position in life.
JERRY and others: THIS ROLE HAS BEEN CAST. Age 40-50, Male - a work-from-home day trader in high-end athleisure wear. Possible he comes across as an angry jerk because recently divorced; possibly recently divorced because he comes across that way.
GEMMA: THIS ROLE HAS BEEN CAST. Age 40-50, Female - a therapist by profession, though currently unable to work. Her ceaseless anxiety has left her tightly wound and defensive.
DR. THATCHER and others: THIS ROLE HAS BEEN CAST. Age 40-50, Female - the inventor and sole practitioner of a cutting-edge, revolutionary medical procedure. She is successful, wears subtly high-end clothes under her lab coat, and possesses an easy confidence.

Brigid O’Shaugnessy – 30s-40s, Female - The femme fatale. Initially appearing as a damsel in distress, Brigid hires Sam Spade to help her find her missing sister. As the story progresses, her true motives are untangled by Spade, as she becomes central in the quest for the Maltese Falcon.
Woman – 20s-40s, Female - 15 different characters including Effie Perine: Sam Spade’s competent secretary whose typing skills are as sharp as her wit.
Man #1 – 30s-50s, Male - Multiple characters, including Miles Archer and Kasper Gutman.
Sam Spade - THIS ROLE HAS BEEN CAST. Age 40-50, Male - A hard-boiled private detective who operates within his own cynical, tough code of ethics. Spade becomes embroiled in the quest for the elusive Maltese Falcon after his partner Miles' murder.

Rosabella – 25-35, Female, Vocal range top: E5, Vocal range bottom: C4 - A woman who is lost in love and work, in desperate need to experience and explore her dreams of romance. Jaded by the city life and insensitive men.
Cleo – 25-35, Female, Vocal range top: A5, Vocal range bottom: Gb3 - Non-plussed, comic, brassy, self-confident waitress and best friend of Rosabella. A true friend with a strong personality and a calculating mind.
Joe – 25-35, Male, Vocal range top: F4, Vocal range bottom: Bb2 - The foreman of the vineyard. Unable to settle down and more interested in random connections than true romance. Handsome, masculine, hardworking.
Marie – 40-50, Female, Vocal range top: F5, Vocal range bottom: B3 - Tony’s possessive, domineering younger sister who is against change. She will fight to protect her brother at all costs.
Herman – 30-40, Male, Vocal range top: A5, Vocal range bottom: E4 - The likable happy-go-lucky ranch hand. Easy-going, the “good guy” and not easily rattled.
