Electropop opera based on Tolstoy's “War & Peace”. Musically, the piece is eclectic and ambitious, encompassing Romantic, modern and avant-garde classical music, Russian folk, indie rock, jazz and electronica.

[NATASHA] Female, 19 year old ingénue character. Profoundly, lethally romantic, innocent, and doughy-eyed. Belt/Soprano.

[ANATOLE] Male, Late 20s aristocrat. Power and Rake-ishness incarnate. Seductive hedonist.

Ambisexual - think David Bowie. High Operatic Tenor.

[PRINCE BOLKONSKY] Male, 40s-60s, conservative, old-fashioned aristocrat whose dementia has caused him to be alternately nasty and incapacitated. Lives with his still unmarried daughter, whom he torments but also relies on to take care of him. Growly Baritone-Tenor, should also play

an instrument: guitar, piano, accordion, cello, or another string or woodwind.

[HELENE] Female, Late 20s aristocrat, the queen of society. Deceptive and amoral. Highly sexualized and not overly intelligent. Sense of humor. Chesty Alto (Belt to Bb).
