SEEKING
Principal actors: Nebraska Rep is seeking to cast our upcoming production of Mother Courage. Actors must be strong singers. If you play an instrument appropriate for the Civil War era, please bring it and play (possible instruments: reeds, snare, woodwinds, brass, strings, harmonica, banjo, guitar, acoustic bass guitar, etc.). See breakdown for details.
PREPARATION
Please prepare one contemporary monologue and 16 bars from the musical theater canon if singing, and two (1-2 minute) contrasting monologues if not singing. Please bring and prepare a song on your instrument if you play.

BREAKDOWN
Mother Courage: Female, 50-60 a woman who has seen better days, but knows she'll figure out any problem. A war-worn, tough as nails canteen women who is driven to succeed at all costs. Excellent singer required.
Yvvette/Other Parts as Cast: Female, 30-40 a woman who has been known to sell her body to a soldier or two; she's seen better days, but she maintains her looks, wit, spunk, and ambition. Excellent singer required. Actor will play an instrument if able.
Sergeant/Clerk/Soldiers/Farmer/Regimental Secretary/Other Parts as Cast: Male, 30-39 comic/cynical/been around the block/seen everything/surprised by nothing. Actor will sing in ensemble and play an instrument if able.
General/The Colonel/Older Soldier/Injured Farmer/Other Parts as Cast: Male, 46-59 seeking an actor with a certain girth and gravitas, comfortable playing characters with outsized desires. Actor will sing in ensemble and play an instrument if able.
