DIRECTOR’S NOTE
RENT is a show that has earned a significant place in the canon of musical theatre and gave some young performers in the 1990’s star-making opportunities due to their iconic, individual performances. RENT only works when each actor that assumes these roles approaches it with the same individuality – and that means divorcing yourself from those iconic performances that have come before you and trusting that YOU already possess everything you need to embody these characters and make them your own.
Ethnicity note: The cast of RENT should reflect the diversity of New York City. All ethnicities are encouraged to audition for all roles.
