Seeking:

GRIM (to play he/him, any race, 40s–50s): The first and only Grim Reaper. With the gravitas of Mufasa, Grim is a faithful executor of his job. He cares deeply about protecting the reapers and society he built. Not currently featured vocally.

NORMAN (to play he/him, any race, 30s–50s, any vocal part): Limbo’s effervescent, yet hyper-vigilant doorman. Must have strong comedic chops.

THE LAWS OF NATURE (to play he/him, any race, any age): A spooky personified book. Powerful and mysterious. The Laws of Nature govern the universe: the rules of physics, electromagnetism, life, and death are contained within their mighty pages.

THE DEATH OF INNOCENCE (to play she/her, any race, any age but presents as a little girl): Takes too much delight in exposing kids to the horrors of the world. Seems out of a horror movie. Bright and childlike; soprano or alto.

THE DEATH OF TRADITION (to play he/him, any race, any age): A self-serious, deep-voiced reaper who gets very upset at how difficult his job is. Presents as very traditional which is ironic given how much he loves ending old things. Low and full; bass.

THE DEATH OF PURPOSE (to play he/him, any race, any age): A stoner-type who loves getting people off track, because what does it all mean, man? Tenor or bass.

ENSEMBLE (all ethnicities, ages, and vocal parts): The ensemble defines the world and portrays a range of characters throughout the musical. Every ensemble track will be featured in some way.

PARTICLE FEVER

A musical based on the documentary film by: Mark Levinson and David Kaplan

  • Press Opening: Sun Feb 28, 2027
  • Scheduled Closing: Sun Mar 28, 2027
  • Possible Extension: Sun Apr 04, 2027

Seeking:

[WANG LIU / PETER HIGGS] (Chinese, male-presenting, 50s): A dedicated engineer who hasn’t seen his family in years. He wants to ensure that when the Collider is turned on, everything mechanically is running sound and feels the administration is rushing them toward disaster. Baritone.

[CARLOS LEGNANI] (Argentinian, male-presenting, 30s): Similar to Wang Liu, Carlos understands the importance of both mechanical and theoretical operation. Though caught in a power struggle with Wang Liu, Carlos is conflict-averse and ends up working siloed on his own. Tenor.

ENSEMBLE (all backgrounds and gender identities, 20s–50s, all vocal parts): The ensemble builds the world of the musical as scientists, theoreticians, physicists and politicians surrounding the work at CERN as the team embarks upon building the largest machine ever built by humans and the discovery of the Higgs Boson (“god particle”). Strong contemporary vocal style required.
