We are seeking to hire a diverse cast. Performers of all backgrounds, identities, and abilities are encouraged to audition.
VANYA – Early 40s. A ruminator. A kvetch. A smart, sweet, passionate, wound-tight failure.
SONIA – Early 20s. Vanya’s niece. Kind, caring, and quirky. Doesn’t recognize her own worth.
ELLA – 30s. Searching, frustrated, hopeful, and sad. An outsider or immigrant, high femme.
BABS – 50s. Vibrant, artistic, outspoken, and even enlightened. A great soul and scrappy wit.
THE PROFESSOR – Late 50s to early 60s. Sonia’s Father. Ella’s husband. Big mind, big ego, big vocabulary. Small-ish soul. Selfish albeit well-meaning.
DR. ASTER – Late 40s to early 50s. Broken, beautiful, dissatisfied, savvy, and sad. He cares deeply and oddly about the world.
PICKLES – Late 30s to early 40s. Loyal, handy. A relentlessly positive utopian lesbian.
