Please prepare a brief contemporary monologue.

Desi, a trans tween, is afraid to come out to her family and only feels like she can be herself in her virtual world. A quest to save her dying dog pushes her to deal with challenges both in the virtual and real worlds.
Desi: (Latine. 12 y/o trans child) Presents as male in real life. Presents as female in the Proxy.
Memo: (Latine. Male. Age 18+ to play 17) Desi’s older brother. Popular. Seems like he has it together. At first skeptical of Desi’s true self but becomes her biggest ally. Plays guitar.
Papá: (Latine. Age mid to late 40s) Memo and Desi’s father. A widower. Doubles as NANA: a male counterpart to Medusa.
Mami: (Latine. Age mid to late 40s) Memo and Desi’s mother. She is a ghost. Plays the piano.
Beatles the Bard: (African American. Non-binary) A bard in the Proxy. Older than the rest of the group. Knows what it’s like to be hated for coming out.
Azlan: (Any Ethnicity) Desi’s dog, companion, spiritual guide and best friend. Leads her on the path of self-discovery. In real life played by a puppet. In the Proxy, played by an actor.
Smallfish: (Latine) A very big fish in the Proxy. He’s giving 90’s grunge. He is a showman. Doubles as Abuelito in the Proxy.
