May is standing in the way of control. June is trying to hold out. Jon really wants a hug. Silent Gen is still looking up at that broken window, and everyone knows why, but never says anything, especially Gen. On a rural college campus where proximity to death defines your social status, four soon-to-be-graduates party, scream and learn how to move on.
Seeking (five roles have been cast; the following two roles are available):
May:
About to turn 21. Smart. Darkly funny. Uses humor as a way to protect herself from her feelings. Verbally quick and dexterous. Her boyfriend committed suicide, and she has become extremely self-destructive in the wake of that. Lots of drinking, casual sex, rages at anyone who crosses her. Totally dependent on her best friend June, who enables her self-destructiveness. There's definitely something charming and sexy about her nihilism.
June:
21. About to graduate from college. She's smart, has a sense of humor, enjoys a good party, is totally bonded with dark, edgy May. Nurturing – to a fault – she takes care of her self-destructive friend May to a point where she forgets about herself. She's the “good kid”, but she's no sap – there’s some edge in her too. Deeply feels grief from the many deaths around her, but doesn't know how to allow herself the space to express it. Discovers her ability to stand up for and take care of herself in the play.
