This fast-paced romp through the life of the original “dumb blonde” and one of the funniest actresses of all time features Holliday’s exalted cohorts Orson Welles, Betty Comden, Adolph Green and Gloria Swanson, among others, in a buoyant valentine to a bygone era.

Equity Principal Auditions have been held. Still seeking:

Judy Holliday:
Actress must play the character at ages 18 - 40. Must be able to capture Judy's distinctive character voice, but must also embody her intelligence and deep insight into the world. Judy is the center of the play as she searches, sometimes desperately, to find her place in a business that does not often acknowledge the values she holds deeply. She employs her “dumb blonde” persona as a way to make people laugh, but also to protect herself from the frustration and pain she experienced in Hollywood.

Helen:
Jewish, early 50s - early 60s. Judy's mom. Candid. Funny, though sometimes unintentionally. A lively mind. A little over-protective, a little vain, a little overbearing, but with a big heart. Always wants what's best for her daughter.

Male:
Multiple roles for one actor. Track age: mid 20s - early 30s. Characters include Orson Welles, John Houseman, Garson Kanin, Harry Cohn, Adolph Green, Tallulah Bankhead and several others. Not looking for dead-on impersonations, but definitely evoking the spirit of each character while making lots of quick changes. Must be able to sing and move well. Great comedic skill, but also must be capable of thoughtful and heartfelt moments. Note: Role has been offered, but has not yet been accepted.

Female:
Multiple roles for one actress. Track age: mid 20s - early 30s. Characters include Betty Comden, Katherine Hepburn, Gloria Swanson, Dorothy Kilgallen and several others. Again, not looking for dead-on impersonations but definitely evoking the spirit of each character. Note: Role has been offered, but has not yet been accepted.
