SYNOPSIS:
Based on a true story, I Am My Own Wife tells the fascinating tale of Charlotte von Mahlsdorf, a German trans woman who managed to survive both the Nazi onslaught and the repressive East German Communist regime, and the playwright (Doug Wright) who becomes infatuated with her story.
SEEKING:
PERFORMER: All 40 characters in Doug Wright’s Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize winning play. The play requires vocal and physical dexterity to switch between characters throughout, strong memorization skills, and expert control of multiple accents including German, standard American, Texan, and more. Some lines and words are spoken in German.

- CHARLOTTE von MAHLSDORF - 60s, a German trans woman. A collector of antiques.
- DOUG WRIGHT - 30s, an American playwright living in NYC. Gay.
- JOHN MARKS - 30s, a Texan reporter living in Berlin.
