BREAKDOWN

With chart-topping songs such as “Hip to Be Square,” “Do You Believe in Love,” “Workin’ for a Livin’,” and the Academy Award-nominated “The Power of Love,” Huey Lewis is one of the most beloved musicians of his generation. Now his high-energy hits will keep your heart still beatin’ at this irrepressible world premiere musical, HEART OF ROCK & ROLL. Bobby is a former rock singer who has traded in his guitar for a stable job in corporate America. He’s on the verge of closing the ultimate business deal and winning the girl of his dreams (who’s also the CEO’s daughter)—that is, if he doesn’t jeopardize everything by reuniting with his band for another shot at rock-and-roll glory. Rediscover Huey Lewis and the News’s heart-pumping classics in this hilarious and electrifying new musical about holding onto your dreams and never losing the thrill of the “heart of rock and roll.”

SEEKING:

BOBBY - 30, male lead. Former lead singer of THE LOOP -- a one-time rockin' band on Chicago's music scene -- turned company man. Passionate, reckless and impulsive. With his tattooed arms covered by his business suits, he's a blue- collar, city guy striving to be blue-blooded in the 'burbs of Milwaukee. ROLE IS ON OFFER.

CASSANDRA - 30, female lead. Smart, disciplined, rational and her Father's loyal lieutenant in their family box making business. Still reeling from her break-up with long-term boyfriend, Tucker, she's taken her angst and put it fully into her work. ROLE IS ON OFFER.

STONE - 50's, is Cassandra's Father and Bobby's boss. He's an upper-middle class suburban success who loves his work and embraces his quirk. His enthusiasm for selling cardboard boxes would make Ron Popeil blush. The only thing he cares about more than his company is his daughter. ROLE IS ON OFFER.

TUCKER - 30s, All-American alpha with a good portfolio, great hair and the ego that comes with. Dated Cassandra through grad school, moved to Chicago with her afterwards, broke her heart to find himself. Now, two years later, he HAS found himself -- and he realizes breaking up with her is the biggest mistake of his life (besides going long on Groupon). ROLE IS ON OFFER.

FJORD - 40's, is a mad genius, armchair psychologist, with an accent you just can't place. Came to America to find a better life and found it as the CEO of a mid-sized online retailer (with a great need for cardboard boxes.) A consummate businessman, he'll go to any length to ensure the most favorable deals for his company. ROLE IS ON OFFER.

JJ - 30, laid-back, good-time, go with the flow lead guitarist for The Loop. He just wants things to be cool and is nostalgic for the days when The Loop were just four kids from the neighborhood playing music and having fun. ROLE IS ON OFFER.

NINA NAZOFF - 50s, a no frills, tough love A&R rep and music biz legend who can make or break a band on a whim. She's given her life to rock n' roll, and inspires awe and fear in musicians everywhere. But if she thinks you've got it -- and honey, she'll sure as shit tell you if she doesn't -- then your dreams really can come true. ROLE IS ON OFFER

WYATT - 30s, Tucker’s best friend, colleague and a fellow alpha who’s not afraid to put Tucker in check when he gets “too” alpha. Married to Paige, Cassandra’s best friend. Together, they were/are the “Fab Four.” ROLE IS ON OFFER.

ELI - 30’s peacemaker of the band, drummer, nerd core type, rock tenor. MUST PLAY DRUMS.

GLENN - Bass player of band, he lives in his mom’s basement, may be overweight and sensitive about it, a man child in his 30’s, must have excellent voice and sharp comic point of view. MUST PLAY THE BASS.

ROZ - 40’s – 50’s, Bobby’s boss, head of HR, smart, full of heart, good with a zinger, excellent voice.

PAIGE – 30, big hearted, wry wit, with strong pop belt.

We strongly encourage actors of all ethnic and cultural backgrounds to attend.
