Prepare a contemporary music theatre or pop song appropriate for the character you are auditioning for. Bring sheet music in correct key; accompanist provided but may not transpose.

Bring picture and resume, stapled together.

Seeking the following:

Tracy Turnblad:

A large high school student with big hair and a big heart. She must sing and dance well (Mezzo)

Edna Turnblad:

A large “woman” with irrepressible sprit who stands up for herself and her family. Must move well, and have comedic flair (Tenor)

Penny Pingleton:

Tracy’s best friend with less self esteem….falls for Seaweed. Must sing and dance well (belt)

Link Larkin:

Handsome high school catch who falls for Tracy. Must sing and dance well (baritone)

Corny Collins:

Charismatic TV personality…..(tenor)

Seaweed:

Great dancer who wins Penny’s heart –(tenor)

Velma Von Tussle:

Snobby, bigot who is glamorous and conniving mother to Amber (belt)

Amber Von Tussle:

Like mother like daughter—will do anything to win the prize and the guy. Must sing and dance well (belt)

Motormouth Mabel:

Ageless soul mother and gospel singer.

Little Inez:

Spitfire dancer and singer…..(belt)

Wilbur:

Understanding and loving husband to Edna…..must have comedic flair (baritone)

Harriman F. Spitzer/principal/Guard (Male Authority Figure:

Plays various roles —comic versatility needed

Prudy Pingleton/Gym Teacher/Matron (Female Authority Figure):
