Sides from PRATFALLS (for all roles other than Elena) will be provided at the audition. Auditioning performers may choose to present a contemporary monologue (2 minutes or less) instead of sides.

Please bring a photo and resume, stapled back-to-back.

Seeking actors of all types. In addition to the roles listed, Ground UP Productions will be casting staged readings in the coming year, and needs a large variety of types.

Pratfalls by Holly Webber. 1st reh: 4/3/12. Runs 4/29-5/19.

Crackling new comedy set on a rooftop in Brooklyn. Explores four mismatched characters and the ups and downs of 5th-floor walkups, city-wide blackouts, stand-up comedy, and perhaps even love.

Roy Demeure:

46. A comedian. Dark-haired. Works out. Grew up in an industrial city in Michigan. Has conquered some of his personal demons; coffee and cigarettes are the only addictions he has left. Still restless, self-hating, wired.

Frances Biegler:

71. Silver hair. Balance problems; tripod cane. Clothes of an old artist; cheap, but still proclaiming her membership in bohemia. Her mind is still sound; she still thinks and talks fast. Comfortable with Roy, brittle with strangers.

Laird Martin:

27. Art gallery employee. Nephew of the landlord; brags about his low rent to friends. Has limited patience for the needs of others. Has widened the circle of his narcissism to include his whippet; talks baby-talk to it, and allows it to eat from his plate.

Elena Lehmann:

CAST. Auditioning performers will be considered as possible (emergency) replacements, should any become necessary. 37. Lawyer. Roy’s sometime girlfriend. Prepare a contemporary monologue, 2 minutes or less.
