Equity actors for roles in the 2021 Season at Greenbrier Valley Theatre: Driving Miss Daisy, Shout!, Pride and Prejudice, Capehart: Silencing the Mob (new play), This Wonderful Life, Elf the musical. (See breakdown.)

INSTRUCTIONS

Please prepare a one-minute song and/or one-minute monologue. You may use accompaniment/sheet music provided (https://drive.google.com/drive/u/1/folders/1nNMwPZshMKFyKeIdcPZDHmFNsHY36Ur2) or provide a one-minute selection of your own using your own accompaniment in the style of a show or the season (material from a season show is welcome). Deadline for submission is MAY 17th

All auditions will be self-taped and emailed to auditions@gvtheatre.org. DEADLINE is MAY 17th 2021 @ 5pm EDT. Callbacks will be scheduled via video at a later date. Rehearsals and performances will be in person and indoors. All safety protocols will be strictly followed. Please ensure that you provide any necessary passwords to access video links.

Blue Girl (20-30) A fashion model. Sophisticated, poised, and cool. She is vain and not particularly friendly. Vocal range top: F5, Vocal range bottom: F3

Yellow Girl (25-35) A loud, uninhibited American girl driven by her emotions. She is a ray of sunshine with a surprising vulnerability. Possesses a big, rock belt. Vocal range top: E5 Vocal range bottom: F3

Orange Girl (35-45) The mother of the group. Domestic and maternal, she is wise, soulful, and mature. Slowly asserting her new-found independence. Vocal range top: B5 Vocal range bottom: F3

Green Girl (30-40) A good-time girl. Blousy, middle-class, and zany. She is a bit frayed at the edges, and hopelessly single. A comedian of sorts. Vocal range top: F5 Vocal range bottom: F3

Red Girl (18-25) The baby of the group, she is an exciting blend of youthful contradictions. Quirky, enthusiastic, and naïve. A hopeless romantic who is insecure about her looks. Vocal range top: G5 Vocal range bottom: F3


Pride And Prejudice By Kate Hamill, adapted from the Jane Austen Novel

Track 1 - plays Jane Bennet, the eldest Bennet daughter and Miss De Bourgh. (Female Identifying)
Lizzy Bennet (Female Identifying) a year or two younger than Jane.
Track 3 - plays Lydia Bennet, the youngest Bennet sister and Lady Catherine De Bourgh. (Female Identifying)
Mr. Darcy (Male Identifying)
Track 5 - plays Mr. Collins who is set to inherit the Bennet fortune (male identifying), Mr. Wickham a soldier (male identifying), and Miss Bingley, Mr. Bingley's sister (female Identifying).
Track 6 - Mr. Bingley, a friend of Mr. Darcy (male identifying, 30-40) and Mary Bennet, the third Bennet daughter (female identifying).
Track 7 - Charlotte Lucas, friend to Lizzy (female identifying) and Mr. Bennet, the patriarch of the family (male identifying).
Track 8 - Mrs. Bennet, the matriarch of the family (female identifying) and all of the servants (male or female identifying).

Capehart: Silencing the Mob

Harry Capehart (30-40)- a prominent African-American member of the House of Delegates in the state of West Virginia. In 1921 he championed and successfully passed one of the most progression anti-lynching bills in the United States. (Male Identifying)

T. Gillis Nutter (25-35)- an African-American member of the West Virginia House of Delegates, and successful attorney and businessman. (Male Identifying)

Ann Hurley Capehart (30-40)- African-American, Harry Capehart’s wife and stalwart supporter of equal rights. (Female Identifying)

Dr Bivins- A member of the WV House of Delegates. A reluctant supporter of The Capehart Law. (Male Identifying)

McClintic- A member of the WV House of Delegates. An opponent of The Capehart Law. (Male Identifying)

Kuykendall- A clerk in the WV House of Delegates. (Male Identifying)

Elf by: Thomas Meehan, Bob Martin, Matthew Sklar, Chad Beguelin

Buddy (25-35) Born a human but raised at the North Pole as a Christmas Elf, Buddy is eager to find his place in the world. He is a child at heart and that child-like curiosity makes him both endearing and gets him into trouble. Vocal range top: C5 Vocal range bottom: Ab2

Jovie (25-35) Buddy's girlfriend. She works at Macy's and has a bit of a cynical outlook on life and love because of the men she's dated. She is caught off guard by Buddy's genuinely big heart. Vocal range top: D5 Vocal range bottom: G3

Walter (55-65) Buddy's workaholic father. He is a Children's book writer, but lacks any of the childlike spirit that Buddy has. He is selfish, tense, and generally angry with life. Vocal range top: G4 Vocal range bottom: A2

Emily (40-50) Walter's wife. Though she is sweet and willing to take him in, she thinks Buddy is crazy at first. Wishes her husband would spend more time with the family. Vocal range top: Eb5 Vocal range bottom: F3

Michael (12-16) Buddy's step-brother who is excited to have a new friend and brother. Unlike his mother, he doesn't take much convincing to have Christmas spirit, but like his mother, he wishes his father would spend more time with the family. Vocal range top: G5 Vocal range bottom: F3

Deb ( 25-55) Walter's secretary. Takes an instant liking to Buddy simply for the novelty of it. Though she aims to please and is a bit of a suck-up, she feels under appreciated. Vocal range top: Eb5 Vocal range bottom: D4

Manager (35-40) A manager at Macy's. He is a good, friendly guy just trying to do his job and get by. Vocal range top: F#4 Vocal range bottom: B2

Santa/Greenway(45+) Loves his job and Christmas, but also likes to kick-back and watch the game when a rare opportunity arises. A natural storyteller. Greenway is Walters boss and cares nothing about the people around him Vocal range top: E4 Vocal range bottom: A2
