SEEKING

Equity actors, singers, and dancers for roles in GREASE (see breakdown).

PREPARATION

Please prepare a short cut of an audition song in the style of the show. Around a verse and chorus. This can be musical theatre or 1950s style pop/rock. Accompanist will be provided.
Please bring the following (which will not be returned): Audition book (If you have one); Headshot/resume.

BREAKDOWN

SANDY DUMBROWSKI – Female. Any ethnicity. Sweet, wholesome, naive girl who is a new student at Rydell. Danny’s love interest. Must be able to convey the roller coaster of innocence, betrayal, love, and confidence during her transformation in the finale. Vocal range: A3-F#5, high belt

DANNY ZUKO – Male. Any ethnicity. Strong, confident, easy-going leader of the Burger Palace Boys. Sandy’s love interest. Vocal range: D4-B5

RIZZO – Female. Any ethnicity. Tough, sarcastic, outspoken leader of the Pink Ladies. Kenickie’s love interest. Must be able to convey the vulnerability that Rizzo always hides. Vocal range: A3-C5

FRENCHY – Female. Any ethnicity. Good-natured, a dreamer, and dumb. Member of the Pink Ladies who is heavily interested in how she looks – particularly her hair. Doody’s love interest. Vocal range: A3 – D4

JAN – Female. Any ethnicity. Loud and a compulsive eater. Member of the Pink Ladies who is pushy with the girls, but shy and quiet with the boys. Roger’s love interest. Vocal range: A3-C5, belter

MARTY – Female. Any ethnicity. Tries very hard to seem “sophisticated” and keep appearances as the “beauty” of the Pink Ladies. But ultimately the same young teenager when she speaks. Interested in Vince Fontaine. Vocal range: C4-C5

KENICKIE - Male. Any ethnicity. Tough, surly, second-in-command of the Burger Palace Boys. Has a crude and off-beat sense of humor. Rizzo’s love interest. Vocal range: C4 – F5

DOODY – Male. Any ethnicity. Boyish, optimistic, and youngest of the Burger Palace Boys. Worships the other guys. Frenchy’s love interest. Vocal range: D4-A5

SONNY - Wheeler-dealer, braggart, member of the Burger Palace Boys who thinks he’s a real lady-killer. Vocal range: G3 – A5

ROGER – Male. Any ethnicity. Mischievous, anything-for-a-laugh, clown of the Burger Palace Boys who enjoys putting others on. Jan’s love interest. Vocal range: D4-A5

PATTY SIMCOX – Female. Any ethnicity. Intense, high-energy, catty, all-American cheerleader who is obsessed with Danny. Vocal range: flexible.

EUGENE – Male. Any ethnicity. The class valedictorian. Pompous, physically awkward, and gullible. Vocal range: flexible.

CHA-CHA – Female. Any ethnicity. Advanced dancer. Loud-mouth and messy dancer. Prides herself on being “the best dancer at St. Bernadette’s.” Vocal range: flexible.

MISS LYNCH - Female. Any ethnicity. Rule-enforcing, and stern English teacher. Vocal range: flexible

JOHNNY CASINO – Male. Any ethnicity. A “greaser” at Rydell that fronts a small rock ‘n’ roll band. Thinks of himself as a real rock ‘n’ roll idol. Vocal range: G4-E5

TEEN ANGEL – Any gender. Any ethnicity. Good-looking, Fabian-esque, figment of Frenchy’s imagination. Would’ve caused girls to lose their minds back in 1958. Vocal range: E4 – F5
