APPOINTMENTS

Auditions by appointment only by emailing athenswestauditions@gmail.com. Please include in your email which days and times you are available, as well as an indication as to whether or not you belong to Actors’ Equity Association. You will be emailed back with a confirmed appointment. Please note that actors must audition in person in order to be considered.

PREPARATION

The audition will consist of cold readings from the script. Please bring a resume and
headshot.

Auditionees interested in reading the play in advance may do so at the Lexington
Downtown Public Library, 140 East Main Street, where the script is kept on reserve.

August Wilson’s Fences begins rehearsals Monday, January 13, 2020, and runs at the Pam Miller Downtown Arts Center February 7-23, 2020.

AthensWest Theatre Company, now in its fifth season, operates on an SPT3 contract with Actors’ Equity Association. Roles are available for both Equity and non-Equity performers, and non-Equity performers have the opportunity to earn EMC points through this production. All actors will be paid. EPA Procedures are in effect for audition.

An Equity Monitor will not be provided. The producer will run all aspects of audition.

Troy Maxson, African-American male, 45-55 Former baseball star in the Negro Baseball League, now a sanitation worker.

Rose Maxson, African-American female, 45-55 Troy's wife and mother of his second child,

Cory. Cory Maxson, African-American male, 17-23 Troy and Rose Maxsons’ son.

Lyons Maxson, African-American male, 30-40 Troy's son from a previous relationship, step-brother to Cory.

Gabriel Maxson, African-American male, 40-55 Troy's younger brother.

Jim Bono, African-American male, 50-60 Troy's best friend.

Raynell Maxson, African-American female, 8-12 Troy's daughter, conceived with another woman while Troy was married to Rose.
