THE PLAY TAKES PLACE IN BOGOSLUSA, LOUISIANA AND IN NASHVILLE. THE ACTION TAKES PLACE FROM 1960 THROUGH 1976. THE SCORE INCLUDES FAMOUS COUNTRY SONGS SUCH AS “REDNECK WOMEN,” “FRIENDS IN LOW PLACES,” “BEFORE HE CHEATS,” AND “HIT THE ROAD, JACK.” ________________________________________ SEEKING THE FOLLOWING ENSEMBLE PARTS: ENSEMBLE: There is an ensemble of 3 men and 3 women that play various roles throughout the play. There main roles are included and described below. MALE ENSEMBLE: DWAYNE: (mid 30’s) Characterman, A rough southern worker in the glass factory. He is arrogant and out spoken but also must have a sense of fun. He has two featured musical number “Take this job and shove it” and “Mama Tried.” MUST MOVE WELL. BARTENDER: (30’s) Pleasant looking characterman. Ned’s best friend. Featured in “Long Neck Bottle,” “Friends in Low Places,” “He Stopped Loving Her Today.” MUST MOVE WELL. MAN 3: (late 20’s) DANCER. MUST SING WELL. Athletic, strong, and masculine. Must have strong ballet and jazz technique. FEMALE ENSEMBLE: MAMA: (40’s) Fancy’s mother. She is a southern redneck. She does not want Fancy to know she is dying and forces Fancy to leave home to fulfill her dream. MUST MOVE WELL. TIFFANY: (Early 20’s) DANCER. MUST SING WELL. She is one of Fancy’s backup singers. Must be nubile, sexy and ambitious. Will also play young Fancy. LYNETTE: (20’s to 30’s) She is one of Fancy’s backup singers. She is the older of the two backup girls. Attractive and sexy.
