ABOUT THE SHOW
Divorce Party The Musical! is a new book musical using parody lyrics to well known songs. It’s about recently divorced woman who figures out how to rebuild her life with the help of her three friends. With the assistance of a Spanish masseur, Italian yoga instructor, and a fabulous make-over artist, the four woman sing, dance, and LAUGH themselves back from the hell of divorce. All characters must have sensational comic ability – this includes being comfortable with physical comedy, skilled at being funny within the confines of a song, and adept with comedy within a spoken scene. Also, all five characters must have an intermediate proficiency at tap dancing and be excellent movers or decent dancers.

---

COURTNEY:
SEEKING IMMEDIATE REPLACEMENT. Late 40s/Early 50s, Linda & Carolyn’s older cousin. She has always acted as confidante and sage to Linda and Carolyn ever since she babysat them as kids. Courtney is the cheerleader that never gave up the pompoms. She strives to look at ageless as possible, stopping at no treatment, surgery, or painful contraption to do so. Think Goldie Hawn from “First Wives Club” meets Stifler’s Mom from “American Pie.” Once her husband got bored and ran out on her, she finally allowed herself to explore her true sexuality and is a bonafide womanizing lesbian. Scared of rejection if she should allow herself to invest emotionally, she runs from commitment. Belting alto. Her song parodies include, “My Favorite Things,” “There’s Got To Be A Morning After,” and “Greased Light’ning.”

LINDA:
SEEKING POSSIBLE FUTURE REPLACEMENT. 36 year-old frumpy house wife. Insecure, emotionally destroyed, and full of self-pity because of her husband coming out of the closet and asking for a divorce. Underneath her current state of devastation, there is a smart, engaging, and saucy woman that has been lost over her 15 years of marriage. Over the course of the show, she rediscovers that woman. Belting soprano. Some of her song parodies include “Cat’s In The Cradle,” “Mama Said There’d Be Days Like This,” and “My Boyfriend’s Back.”

CAROLYN:
SEEKING POSSIBLE FUTURE REPLACEMENT. 40ish, Linda’s older sister. Well put together, vivacious, and confident. She’s a divorced woman who remarried to a much younger man, thrusting herself into cougar-dom. As much as she’s turned her life around, she still has some outstanding skeletons in her closet regarding her contributions to the cause of the divorce. Belting soprano. Some of her song parodies include “Big Girls Don’t Cry,” “I Am Woman,” and “Anything You Can Do.”

SHEILA:
SEEKING POSSIBLE FUTURE REPLACEMENT. 36 year-old African American Southern in charge woman. Linda’s college roommate, and life long friend. She’s sarcastic, boisterous, and sassy. Sheila is also currently “on the prowl” in order to get even with her husband, who she thinks is cheating on her. Underneath her bravado and one-liners, she is vulnerable and scared of losing her marriage, and is desperately searching for the answer while trying to retain her dignity. R&B belter. Her song parodies include “RESPECT,” “Hair,” and “Boot Scootin’ Boogie.”

THE BOY TOY:
SEEKING POSSIBLE FUTURE REPLACEMENT. A versatile character actor that plays the seven men in the show. Think a male Kristin Wiig with a great body since he also does a strip during the finale. The Boy Toy needs to be comfortable with a Spanish accent (think Antonio Banderas) and an Italian accent. Also, a good parrot impression is a plus. Bari-tenor. His song parodies include “Hernando’s Hideaway,” “Feelings,” and “Diamonds Are A Girl’s Best Friend.
