Prepare 16 bars of a song. Bring sheet music in correct key; accompanist provided but may not transpose. Actors will also read from sides at the auditions.

Is Spider getting too big for his own skin? Will Fly find her superhero powers in time to save her Aunt Rita from peril? Will Worm learn to stand on his own two feet…even though he doesn‘t have feet? We invite you to take a look at the world from a bug‘s perspective. Perhaps you‘ll see that their lives are not all that different from yours. This world première musical captures all of the droll humor and whimsy of the wildly popular books.
There will be five roles available for AEA artists and one AEA/ASM.
Roles include:
Worm:
Male tenor – lacks self-confidence, sensitive, loyal and wants to matter
Spider:
Male baritone – cocky, sometimes whiny, a techno wizard, and can’t wait to molt.
Fly:
Female, alto/mezzo – full of energy, sincere, and want to be a superhero
3 Actors:
To play numerous parts including: The Bee: alto, mezzo. Butterfly: soprano. And Ant: baritone.
Rehearsal schedules are generally two or three evenings during the week, and a weekend afternoon. All cast members are expected for all performances, with no exception since the company does not cast understudies.
The Growing Stage Theatre is located in northwestern New Jersey with no regular mass transportation service available. Own transportation is strongly recommended.
