A short, contemporary comedic monologue.
Bring picture and resume, stapled together.
NOTE: With their biological clock ticking and their home about to be sold out from under them, Ashley and David are writers that are forced to take desperate measures to get their script sold. A funny, fast-paced, zany comedy.
Seeking:
Female Roles:
Ashley:
(32-ish) Attractive, strong-willed, desperate, goes off the deep end because her biological clock is ticking, is close to having a breakdown.
Jessica Vane:
(40s) ROLE IS CAST. Attractive, been-there-done-that, hardened over the years but still has a soft side. A movie producer. A real LA product, always concerned with her looks (boxtox, manicures, the works.)
Vanessa:
(40s) Literary agent; well-meaning but slightly out of it. Great comic part. She could be a character lady or buxom and oversexed.
Carol:
(30s) Realtor; interfering, meddlesome, unaware. This actress will also play other roles including TINA: pregnant, happy – has what Ashley wants.
Nikki:
(30s) Obnoxious, nail-biting secretary to producer. This actress will also play other roles including Laura: development executive assistant.
Male roles:
David:
(35-ish) Offbeat, handsome, quirky, cautious, funny, he’s the kind of guy who likes to keep his ducks in a row, desperate, but not as much as Ashley, must be great storyteller.
Burke:
(early 50s) Movie producer. A shark; dashing, good looks but just on the edge of losing them. In love with the business and has always been able to pick winners but is beginning to lose his golden touch.
Leo Goldberg:
(60s) Jewish backstabbing double dealing producer. A bully, gruff, condescending.
Jackson:
(30s) A limo driver, angry, has seen it all. This actor will also play other roles including Marty: producer, positive about script but then says “no”; andZeno: fun, a little slow, kooky criminal.
Rick:
(30s) Should be very sexy. A wiseass hijacker, tough. This actor will also play other roles including Brandon: successful young writer; and Wagner: self-important, bagel-eating producer.
Actors of all cultural backgrounds encouraged to attend this call.
