WORLD PREMIERE of a new play
SEEKING:
Clementine:
African-American woman, late 30s to mid 40s. Third-generation New Orleans. She is strong and grounded but also has a quick wit and a sharp mind. She is a loving, proud and relentless parent to her 19 year-old college student son, and has a passionate, conflicted relationship with her wayward husband Jaffy. It would be great if the actress played piano, but not a necessity.
Jaffy:
Caucasian man, mid-late 40s. Tall, lean and strong, a joker at heart, with an easy grin and deep, pleasurable laugh. A recovered, long-time addict with a substantial history of bad behavior who got clean when their daughter was born, but retains some of the hustler’s charm from his former streetwise days.
The Chorus:
African-American man, Actor/Singer/Pianist, can be late 40s to 60s. He is our guide, our host, our storyteller. He exists both outside the story as a Greek chorus and inside the story as Clementine’s blues piano teacher/mentor. Must play the piano and must be able to sing.
