Re: CHICAGO Appts / AEA submission
Seeking multi-talented performers for a re-imagined production of CHICAGO. The production will utilize a story-theatre approach with a reduced cast playing multiple roles. ALL ROLES, PRINCIPAL AND ENSEMBLE, MUST DANCE WELL. Seeking highly trained dancers with unique personalities who are open to seeing this CHICAGO as an ensemble piece. This will be an “all hands on deck” type of production. Ability to play instruments, juggle, and acrobatics a plus.
Roxie:
Female, late 20s-early 40s, must dance very well, open to all types. A wannabe vaudevillian and murderess who kills her ex-boyfriend, possible in self-defense.
Velma:
Female, early 30s-early 40s, must dance very well, open to all types. A vaudevillian and murderess who is on trial for killing her cheating husband and sister. She is represented by Billy Flynn and competes with Roxie Hart over him.
Billy Flynn:
Male, 30s-50s, undeniable charm and sex appeal, Must Dance very well. Velma and Roxie's lawyer with a perfect track record. His clients become instant celebrities.
Amos Hart:
Male, 20s-50s, seeking a smart performer with a unique physical preference (i.e. very short, extremely tall and thin, etc.) Must dance very well. Roxie's faithful, simple and good-natured husband.
Mary Sunshine/June:
Male, any age, must have a convincing coloratura soprano and dance very well. A reporter that follows these trials very closely.
Go-To-Hell Kitty/Liz:
Female, late 20s-late 30s, strikingly beautiful, must dance very well.
Hunyak:
Female, late 20s-late 30s, tall and statuesque, must dance very well.
Fred Casely/Anne:
Male, late 20s- late 40s, strapping and sexy, must dance very well and be comfortable in drag.
Sgt. Fogarty/Mona/Jury:
Male, late 20s- late 40s, strapping and sexy, must dance very well and be comfortable in drag.
