by Sarah Ruhl
First Rehearsal: June 13, runs July 1 -­ 10

Seeking:

Dr. Givings:
35-­45. Intellectually curious, yet stifled. Loves his wife and excited about the possibilities of electricity and medicine.

Mr. Daldry:
35-­55. A steadfast man. Would like his wife to have more pep, more verve. Does not see that he himself may be partly to blame for her malaise.

THE PROFANE

First Rehearsal July 5, runs July 22 -­ July 31

Seeking:

RAIF ALMEDIN
40's/50s -­ a first-­generation immigrant novelist, perhaps from the Middle East/North Africa/South Asia -­ a member of the Muslim diaspora. Brilliant and intimidating.

NAJA
40's/50s -­ his wife. Also a first-­generation immigrant. Currently a dance instructor -­ soulful, intelligent, warm, long suffering.

PETER OSMAN
40's/50s -­ a business owner. A more recent immigrant to the U.S. Gregarious, charming, generous.

CARMEN
40's/50s -­ his wife, conservative, traditional, reserved
