CATCH ME IF YOU CAN
SYNOPSIS: CATCH ME IF YOU CAN is based on the 2002 film starring Leonardo DiCaprio. It is the story of con man Frank Abagnale, Jr. – who, using his charm and forged checks, successfully posed as a pilot, doctor and lawyer.
SEEKING:
- [FRANK ABAGNALE, JR.] THIS ROLE IS CAST. Male, white, late 20s. A handsome and successful con artist. Grew up learning to disappear into another skin to avoid his upbringing. VOCAL RANGE: G2 - G5.
- [CARL HANRATTY] Male, all ethnicities, 40s – 60s. An FBI agent leading the investigation and search for Frank Jr. A knowledgeable and habitual workaholic who idolizes the moment he catches his perp. Lives a private life of loneliness and depression. VOCAL RANGE: Baritone, G2 – G4.
- [FRANK ABAGNALE, SR.] Male, white, 50 – 65. Frank Jr.'s father. He is his son’s inspiration when it comes to swindling. Upbeat and fast-talking, he undergoes a series of progressive failures that leaves him a miserable and an alcoholic. VOCAL RANGE: Baritone, F2 – G#4.
- [PAULA ABAGNALE] Female, white, 50 – 60. Frank Jr.'s gorgeous mother. She met Frank Sr. in France, during the war, but has fallen out of love. Caring and loving, with an underlying resentment toward her husband. Dance experience a plus. VOCAL RANGE: Alto, smooth jazz influenced, A3 – C5.
- [BRENDA STRONG] Female, any ethnicity, mid 20s - 30s. A nurse. She is Frank Jr.'s eventual love interest. Hard-working and initially insecure, she meets Frank Jr. after running away from a wedding. Comes to trust him but his true identity clouds her feelings. VOCAL RANGE: Mezzo, legit with mix belt, G3 – A5.
- [CAROL STRONG] Female, any ethnicity, mid 40s – 60s. Brenda's traditional mother. She is high energy and chatty. VOCAL RANGE: Mezzo/Alto, with belt, Bb3 – A5.
- [ROGER STRONG] Male, any ethnicity, 50 – 65. Brenda's conservative father. He is stern and interrogatory but reveals himself to be deeply romantic. VOCAL RANGE: Baritone, A2 – A4.
- [MALE ENSEMBLE] Male, any ethnicity, mid 20s – 50s. High-energy, versatile performers who love playing a variety of roles. The men play commuters, assistants, pilots, FBI agents, doctors, party-goers, more. VOCAL RANGES: All. PLEASE NOTE: At least some of the Male Ensemble should be strong dancers. The others should just move well. Everyone should sing well.
- [FEMALE ENSEMBLE] Female, any ethnicity, early 20s – 40s. High-energy, versatile performers who love playing a variety of roles. The women play commuters, assistants, stewardesses (because that’s what they were called then!), party-goers, nurses, interns, more. VOCAL RANGES: All.
