Equity actors for roles in CALF SCRAMBLE (see breakdown).
Local NYC actors and actors who are strong movers/comfortable with physical theater are encouraged to audition as each actor plays a human as well as a calf.

PREPARATION

Please prepare a brief contemporary monologue, no more than 2 minutes in length.
Also please bring your headshot and resume stapled together.

CALF SCRAMBLE

SEEKING:

ANNA LEE / VIVVY’S CALF

Character portrayed is female (she/her), 18+ to play 16, white.
A Preacher’s daughter with a strong backbone. She’s secure enough in her social status to push boundaries. Deeply caring. Vivvy is her best friend.

EL / SOFI’S CALF

Character portrayed is female (she/her), 18+ to play 16, Latina.
A chameleon, destined to be a townie. Dry, funny and tough. Sofi’s best friend since birth, she’s trying to bridge her friendship with Sofi with her FFA friends inside the barn.

MAREN / EL’S CALF

Character portrayed is female (she/her), 18+ to play 15, white.
Sweet and exuberant and bursting with God’s love. A chatterbox from a Fundamentalist Christian family, her relationship with God is enviously intimate.

SOFI / MAREN’S CALF

Character portrayed is female (she/her), 18+ to play 16, Latina.
The newcomer, she is spread very thin and uncomfortable being new. She’s booksmart — views academic achievement as a “way out” of Huntsville and her living situation. She sees herself as different from (and superior to) the religious, agriculture-centric FFA kid in the group.

VIVVY / ANNA LEE’S CALF

Character portrayed is female (she/her), 18+ to play 16, Latina.
An FFA expert, supremely confident. Vivvy’s family owns a cattle ranch — she is extremely skilled with animals and cares deeply about the group’s calves. She values competence and hard work above all else. Despite her best efforts, she can’t hide how butch she is.
Anna Lee is her best friend.
