STORY: At the core of “Burn This” is Anna, a dancer-choreographer who, up until the unexpected death of her roommate and dancing partner, Robbie, has been consumed by her career. Now in her grief, she meets Pale, Robbie’s older brother, who bursts into her apartment to retrieve Robbie’s belongings, and ends up staying for a while. Pale is dangerous, sexy, raw and demanding, and he interrupts the course of Anna’s existence bringing major changes in her life. “Burn This,” which had it world premiere in CTG/Mark Taper Forum’s 1986-87 season, moved to Broadway in 1987. Newsweek said of the play, “[It] has a voracious vitality and an almost manic determination to drive right into the highest voltage that life can register.” SEEKING THE FOLLOWING 2 UNDERSTUDIES _______________________________________ FEMALE U/S: (covering 1 role) 30’s ANNA: Very beautiful and strong; a dancer. She is grieving the death of her best friend, Robbie. Emotionally-withdrawn and independent. Intelligent, she usually has a plan but takes a risk on Pale. _______________________________________ MALE U/S: (covering 3 roles) 30’s-40 PALE: Strong, brutish, and good looking. He is a coke-snorting, hyperactive restaurant manager who is dealing with the death of his brother, Robbie. Likeable in a slightly scary way. Demanding and intense, but with a sense of humor and irony. LARRY: Gay. Works in advertising. Hides a lot of deeper emotions but has a flair for the dramatic. BURTON: Athletic and handsome. Steady and controlled. Anna’s boyfriend. A rich kid turned richer screenwriter.
