BREAKDOWN

BULLET CATCHERS is a devised, highly physical piece examining all sides of what it means to have women officially serving in combat roles in the U.S. military.

The play has been in process since January 2016, and is written by the collaborators of the project. Based on interviews with active and retired military, our story follows the training and deployment of the first male/female infantry unit. The show will premiere in New York in this summer with goal of an eventual tour to military bases and theatres around the country.

Our process involves generating material for the piece with the collective. Your role would be as an actor and cowriter. This is an ongoing project, and there will be meetings (fitted around our collaborator’s schedules), until the script is completed and rehearsals begin.

seeking the following role:

PRIVATE FIRST CLASS REO:
Male identifying. 20s-30s, non-white. Member of the first gender integrated Army infantry unit. Stubborn, masculine, rash, powerful. Reo also appears as other men in our soldier’s lives. A member of the masked chorus, he takes our audience through the story with movement, music, and heightened language. Actors who are veterans of the U.S. military, any branch, preferred. Ability to sing a plus.
