James Connolly:

Mid 40s, working class intellectual, self-educated but very well read, burning with energy and compassion.

Sean Macdermott:

Early 30s, strikingly pale and handsome, a ruthless organizer, roiling with inner turmoil; he was once athletic, outgoing and popular, but was stricken by polio some years ago.

Patrick Pearse:

Late 30s, enigmatic educator and Gaelic language enthusiast. Formal and often socially uncomfortable. Idealist and visionary but ambitious and driven.
