Completely in love with her dog, Winn-Dixie, and confides in him. Performer must be comfortable handling dogs. Soprano with a contemporary feel.
Preacher:
Caucasian man, 40s. Opal’s father. Intelligent and non-confrontational. When his wife leaves him, he is deeply hurt, but doesn’t show it – especially to his daughter. Plays the diplomat and gentleman to his congregation, and is able to inspire without fire and brimstone. Baritone.
Gloria Dump:

Dunlap Dewberry:

Jeanne Dewberry:

Amanda Wilkinson:
Character is a 16-year old girl, any ethnicity (seeking actor 16 or older who can play 16). Amanda is a know-it-all, snobby and smart. Hides a lot of hurt. Soprano with a contemporary feel.
