BREAKDOWN

ART OF MURDER

SEEKING:

Jack Brooks: The celebrity artist. A renowned, acclaimed, and notoriously eccentric painter; he is ruggedly handsome. Possessing a huge, cruel ego, he has an inflated sense of self-importance and arrogance. Jack is commanding and charismatic, dominating the stage with a large presence and an edgy sense of humor. He harbors a grudge and feels wronged by his art dealer, Vincent, and plots his murder. Comfortable appearing onstage in a bathing suit.

Annie Brooks: The cunning wife. Though less-celebrated, she is a skilled artist in her own right. A complex and dynamic woman, she appears to suffer from Jack's mistreatment but harbors a deep resentment that drives her actions, quickly revealing her own cunning and conniving nature. Annie is a strong, yet enigmatic woman; she is complicit in the plan to murder Vincent but has her own motivations that lead her to plot against her husband as well.

Vincent: The flamboyant art dealer. A high-powered and high-strung New York art dealer. He presents a likable and seemingly honest facade, but is in reality manipulative, slimy, and motivated by money. He thinks very highly of his own professional prowess, but his charm is at odds with his manipulative nature. Vincent is a cynic who brings his own baggage and becomes an active, if unwitting, participant in the night's deadly deceptions.

Kate: The harassed housekeeper. A young, attractive, and intelligent Irish immigrant who works as the Brooks’ maid. Often dismissed and overlooked, she unexpectedly reappears at unlikely moments. She has a degree in chemistry and has grown tired of her employer’s advances. Speaks with an Irish dialect.
