Breakdown

It's the 1950's. Smack dab in the middle of America, Winnetka Illinois, four women enter a Betty Crocker cooking contest in the hopes of changing their lives. What they get is way more than they bargained for. Little did they know that it would take a Zoologist from Indiana University, Alfred C. Kinsey, to really get them cookin'! In an age that believed that the way to a man's heart is through his stomach, they discover that the way to a woman's heart is through her friends.

In this one-act, 90-minute, slice of life original musical comedy, we watch as these 4 women's weekly cooking club in the 1950's becomes a turning point in their lives.

JOAN SMITH - 30s, Married for 6 years. Her husband is in Real Estate. Real name: Chaia Bayla Frankel. Born to Jewish Immigrant parents who changed their name upon arriving at Ellis Island right before the start of WWII. She has not told anyone that she's really Jewish. The other girls are slightly jealous of her because Joan appears to 'have everything'. She smokes. Hairdo: Annette Funicello. Fashion sense: Act 1 - 50's Sophisticated; Act 2 - 60's Hippie Chic. Vocal range: pop/rock Alto

CONNIE OLSEN - 30s, Blonde, blue-eyed and of Scandinavian descent. Married for 2 years. Nine months pregnant and about to 'burst', in more ways than one. Her husband Olaf is an award-winning shoe salesman at JC PENNEY. He is never home, so Connie dreams. Hairdo: short 'bob'. Fashion sense: materinity…sailor's outfits with matching hat and uncomfortable patent-leather shoes. Vocal range: pop/rock mezzo voice (comic timing is a big plus for this role)

DOTTIE O'FARRELL - 30S, Catholic and married to her high school sweetheart in a 'shotgun' wedding at 17. She already has 4 children. Her husband Jim is a repairman for Bell Telephone. She's forever on the latest fad diet. Hairdo: teased to the max. Fashion sense: none. Vocal range: pop/rock soprano voice who can also sing legit.

AGNES CROOKSHANK - 30s and single. Olive-skinned and sexy/sultry. She wants to 'be somebody' and fancies herself 'too big for the small town mentality'. She loves to sing, act and dance. Hairdo: glamorous. She ''gets out'' of Winnetka and changes her name to Maria Magenta. Fashion sense: Brigitte Bardot. Vocal range: pop/rock; funky belt - belt/mix up to Eb.
