SEEKING THE FOLLOWING:
MALE:
SENEX
(50’s-60’s) An older man, but one still attracted to wine, women, and song. Senex is the perennially henpecked husband. Should be very comfortable singing. Character singer.
HERO
(20’s) The handsome son of Senex and Domina. Hero is a lovesick juvenile who schemes with Pseudolus to win the hand (and body) of Philia. Innocent. Must have comic skills. Bari-tenor.
MILES GLORIOSUS
(mid 30’s-mid 40’s) A roman soldier, tall imposing and muscular. He is very handsome, strong – and pompous, so much so that he proudly declares: ‘I am a parade’. Heroic bari-tenor.
LYCUS
(40’s-50’s) The owner of the brothel, Lycus is the snaky, slimy, lecherous procurer of courtesans. Character singer.
FEMALE:
DOMINA
(late 40’s-50’s) The battle-ax wife of Senex, Domina is not only domineering, but proud. Must have strong belt and head voice.
PHILIA
(20’s) Still a virginal girl, beautiful and young, but dumb. She and Hero are in love. Philia, none the less, belongs to Lycus and is a courtesan-in-training. Must have comic skills. Soprano.
