Equity actors for roles in 5th Avenue Theatre's 2026–27 Season (see breakdown). An Equity Monitor will not be provided. The producer will run all aspects of this audition.

PREPARATION
Prepare a musical theatre selection (something you feel great about and that shows your vocal range). Keep the selection under two minutes. Please do not sing from the shows. Bring sheet music and your book in case we would like to see more. An accompanist will be provided.

Seeking
- Zach: Non-singing, the Director/Choreographer of the show. Must be able to dance.
- Larry: Zach’s assistant. Must sing and dance.
- Cassie: Returning to the chorus after years of being a featured performer. Very strong dancer. Reserved but warm. Previously had a relationship with Zach. Soprano A3–C#5 (opt. D#5)
- Shelia: Oldest dancer on the line. Brassy & sexy with a bit of an attitude but has class. Good comedic timing. Alto G3–Bb4 (opt. E3)
- Val: Smart, funny and brazen. Mezzo with a belt. G#3–C#5
- Diana: Latine. Street smart and tough, eternal optimist and starry-eyed. Determined. Alto G3–C#5 (opt. F#5)
- Judy: A funny and nervous scatterbrain. Warm and hopeful yet somewhat awkward. Mezzo G#3–C#5 (opt. F#5)
- Kristine: Wide-eyed and impressionable. More comfortable with her dancing abilities than singing. Newly married to Al. Mezzo Cb4–Eb5
- Maggie: A very kind dreamer who comes from a broken home. Soprano with a strong belt. A3–E5 (opt. A5)
- Bebe: An outsider who wants to be liked. Insecure about her appearance; uses humor to cover those insecurities. Alto F#3–C#5
- Connie: A small-stature Asian female-identifying person. Older than she looks with a great sense of humor. Alto C4–D5
- Mike: Determined, aggressive, cocky, sure of himself but likeable. Tap dancer who has worked with Zach before. Tenor F3–G#4
- Richie: African American, strong dancer, enthusiastic, funny, cool and laid back. Very likeable. Tenor D3–A4 (opt. C#5 & E5)
- Don: Cocky and cool self-proclaimed ladies’ man. Baritone D3–F#4
- Paul: Introverted and guarded but loves who he becomes when he performs. Just starting to feel comfortable in his skin. Bari-Tenor C#3–F#4
- Mark: Hopeful, optimistic, naïve but charming. Tenor E3–G#4
- Greg: Sharp-tongued and conscious of his appearance. “Been there, done that” attitude. Has worked with Zach before. Baritone D3–E4
- Bobby: Funny and full of wit. Covers up his rough childhood by joking about everything. There is more to him than meets the eye. Eb3–C4
- Al: Hyper-masculine, tough-guy persona. Newly married to Kristine. Baritone E3–G#4
- Ensemble: Seeking dancer/singers to play auditioners and be used in large ensemble numbers, as offstage singers and as understudies. All must be excellent dancers who have strong ballet and jazz training.

- Dorothy Gale: A young heroine transported to Oz from Kansas. Initially dreams of leaving her dull Kansas life but discovers that home is where her heart is. Age: 13–18. Vocal Range: G3–C5 (opt. E5)
- Hunk / Scarecrow: Farmhand / a cornfield fixture who joins Dorothy to get a brain from the Wizard. Kind and clumsy. Vocal Range: Bb2–F#4 (opt. Ab4)
- Hickory / Tin Man: Farmhand / a very mechanical man who believes he doesn't have a heart. Wide-eyed and gentle but moves like a robot. Vocal Range: Bb2–G4
- Zeke / Lion: Farmhand / a beast of the forest venturing to Oz to get courage from the Wizard. Frightened of everything but finds confidence by the end. Vocal Range: Bb2–F4
- Uncle Henry / Emerald City Guard: A Kansas farmer and Dorothy's uncle. Vocal Range: Bb2–Eb4
- Aunt Em / Glinda the Good Witch: Dorothy's aunt and Henry's wife; a typical midwestern farm worker. Also the Good Witch of the North. Vocal Range: G3–C5
- Miss Gulch / Wicked Witch of the West: The villain of the story, bent on grabbing Dorothy. A comedic villainess who is crafty and menacing. Non-singing role.
- Professor Marvel / Wizard: An eccentric, traveling entertainer and charlatan. The Wizard uses trickery to shield himself from the people.
- Ensemble: Seeking performers to play Munchkins, Emerald City citizens, Winged Monkeys, Trees and other characters that make up the world of the play.
