A new youth summer camp taking place this week at the Civic Center of Greater Des Moines gives future stars a chance to shine on the Civic Center stage. As part of the Civic Center's education and community engagement programs, this theater camp is designed to provide students ranging in ages from 5-16 years old with unique and lasting theater experiences facilitated by professional artists.
This week-long day camp provides young artists, and future stars, an opportunity to explore their talents and skills as musical theater actors and directors in a full-scale, professionally supported production. The morning workshops further their understanding of theater while developing their acting skills. The afternoon sessions will be rehearsals of THE JUNGLE BOOK with Missoula Children's Theatre directors for a performance starring the campers. The camp culminates at the end of the week with a free public performance of THE JUNGLE BOOK on the Civic Center's main stage on Friday, Aug. 20, 2010 at 5:30 p.m.The Civic Center of Greater Des MoinesThe Civic Center of Greater Des Moines is a private not-for-profit corporation celebrating over 30 years of presenting the performing arts to Iowa and the surrounding states.
