Stories on Stage Presents CARPE DIEM Today

Stories on Stage presents "Carpe Diem" today, September 19 at 1:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. at the Su Teatro Cultural and Performing Arts Center, 721 Santa Fe Drive, Denver, CO 80204. Single tickets are $28 Adult/ $15 Student; tickets for groups of 6 or more are $20 per person and LoDough (scholarship) tickets are also available. Stories on Stage is delighted to welcome Chris Parente back to the stage. Chris is a graduate of Indiana University, where he received degrees in Journalism and Political Science (and was once harassed by Bobby Knight). Chris studied improv at Chicago's Second City, under the direction of Martin de Maat. He's spent nearly 16 years performing in shows and festivals across the country.

Chris also keeps busy in his day job, where he works as a television anchor and entertainment host for Denver's KDVR (Fox31) and KWGN (CW2). His broadcast work has garnered Six Emmy Awards for outstanding performance. Chris can also be seen weekday mornings at 10am on Fox, as host of Colorado's "Everyday" Show.

He's interviewed hundreds of actors, singers, and celebrities. His two favorites remain: Robin Williams and Kermit The Frog.

Celebrating their 15th Season, Stories on Stage has renowned actors bring stories to life by combining literature with theater.

Stories on Stage mission also includes two outreach programs:

"Voices Out of Silence," a suicide prevention program for teens. It includes a performance based on stories taken from interviews and personal writings of teens that have attempted suicide and survived and thrived. This program is brought directly to local middle and high schools, impacting approximately 750 students a year.

"Cuentame un Cuentito/Tell Me a Story" is a bilingual performance that integrates Latin American folk tales with music, projections and dance. The show goes to 10 schools annually, impacting over 2,500 students. Each of the stories is selected for their messages on bullying, individuality, being true to yourself, and kindness.

"Carpe Diem" is sponsored by the Daniel Seltzer Memorial Fund, Fern Seltzer and Andy Heymsfield and in part by the Citizens of the Scientific and Cultural District (SCFD), Bonfils Stanton Foundation and the Ralph and Florence Burgess Trust.
